Hereafter, Bourne
  • Hereafter continues filming in London. Photos during the week are at Just Jared, PopSugar and I need my fix. Reports on the filming are at the Daily Mail and This is London.

  • Matt had dinner with Paul Greengrass at Nobu Berkeley on Wednesday - a photo is below. A European press junket for Green Zone may be scheduled for London next week. A video of Matt meeting fans after leaving the restaurant also is PopSugar and another report about Matt meeting fans at the premiere and during the week is here.

  • Interviews with Matt, mostly using press conference quotes, are at Indie London and IE.com.

    Future Bourne movies
"Paul's a director that I'd follow to the ends of the earth," is all he'll say, "and it'd be tough to go ahead on this journey without him. I'm going to have to talk with him, and others, further before I make up my mind on that front."

    Upcoming projects
The most exciting of the bunch looks like the planned remake of the John Wayne classic, True Grit, alongside Jeff Bridges, with the Coen brothers directing.

"Hey, what can I say," smiles Damon, "it's a good time to be alive."

    Position in Hollywood
And after all the ups and downs, is Matt Damon happy? Or is there always a niggling doubt that it could all end tomorrow?

"I think I am happy," he finishes. "I don't worry the way I would have starting out, because I know a lot of the work I've done will stand to me. I'm not living by the box-office, and therefore I don't feel the pressure to deliver traditional hits all the time. I realise there's a business side to this, and I'm certainly keen for these movies to find an audience, but it's far more satisfying when those movies you're promoting are movies you'd happily go and see yourself.

"I think that's the key to it. Don't make movies you yourself wouldn't want to watch..."

  • From an interview with Zak Feaunati, who plays Jonah Lomu in Invictus:

Speaking about attending the weekend premiere, he said: “The experience was amazing, they were all there – Morgan, Clint and Matt.

"They are all so normal. We had drinks after the premiere with Matt and his wife. He asked about school and was particularly interested because he does charity work with children. He said he would like to visit, which would be fantastic for the school and Sutton Coldfield."

  • EW looked into the Bourne prequel idea:

While it’s not impossible to imagine that Universal may go the route of Spider-man now that Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon have opted out of Bourne 4, that speculation is a bit premature. Despite Empire Online prognosticating on the future of the franchise, based on their interview with Damon, there are no solid plans yet at the studio.

Sources inside the company tell EW.com that they are currently looking at a few story lines and haven’t made a decision. Another source guesses that the studio will first try to hire an edgy young director that could lure Damon back into the fold. Should that not work, a reboot wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Said one studio source, "Bourne is one of our best and most important franchises. Whatever we do, we’re going to make sure we get it right."

  • At the Invictus press conference Matt was asked about his plans to direct.

You're keen to start directing at some point. What kind of script are you looking to do?
Make a little story, a little simple little human story. Good Will Hunting or something smaller like that. Nothing too tricky the first time round.

  • A TV report on True Grit auditions in Austin mentions the film is now scheduled to start filming in late April. Previous reports claimed filming would start on 20 March.

I'll bet the honchos at Universal would love to have been a fly on the wall during Matt's dinner with Greengrass.

And Greengrass was also at the Invictus premiere last Sunday. They're still friends and Matt only has positive words to say about him. Matt's comment above about Bourne is quite different, and it almost sounds like he is being persuaded to try another director.

Terry Gilliam also visited the Hereafter set on Friday, according to an extra.

Personally, the one I'm looking forward to the most at this point is The Adjustment Bureau. We haven't really had the chance to see Matt as a romantic lead with great banter since Good Will Hunting. And Emily Blunt seems to me a person who understands wit.

As an Arsenal fan, todays game was pretty disappointing but seeing Matt there brightened it up!
