It's very similar to a previous Esquire cover (and it looks to be another drinking beers with Matt story).

I wonder if Matt would ever do a shoot for someone like David LaChapelle. Brad Pitt does lots of interesting photo shoots, but Matt probably doesn't care enough to do one, as it likely would take more effort than a simple studio shot.

    Cover

Does anyone else think that Matt looks a bit like Jack Nicholson in this photo?

Thanks for reposting the 2009 article! His print interviews now are so much more interesting than they used to be. His recent Playboy interview was phenomenal.

This was another well-written and interesting recent interview - Elle Canada from 2011.

    Sony

An interesting article about Sony's woes and the potential impact of Elysium on the company. It's not a very happy thought that a powerful player at Sony would prefer that their movies fail in order to push his own business agenda.

    Re: Sony

The cost to make and market these films is ridiculous - details from the Hollywood Reporter below. White House Down had an OK opening, but cost $150 million to make and a further $150 million to market.

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/white-house-down-sonys-second-577784
The movie, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, opened to a dismal $25.7 million domestically after costing at least $150 million to produce, excluding a $150 million-plus marketing spend.

    Re: Sony

It's difficult to suss out if White House Down's troubles are due to the the trailer, story, the stars, the marketing or something else. Although I think Tatum is a genuine movie star, he's been in a ton of movies in the last two years. Maybe a bit overexposed. I saw a very funny article comparing the movie to Die Hard. It's the same movie! Lol.

I guess we'll get a better idea of how Elysium might do at comic con. I keep hearing quiet whispers that are positive. But who knows?

    enwhote started

I knew that Kent was playing chess in GWH, but when watching the blu-ray " 15th anniversary", I heard that he wanted the "Oscar for Best Extra"!! (If I understood correctly, because there are great Gus, Matt and Ben's comments but no french subtitles: so, it's very frustrating to not understand everything...)

    Esquire

The site has updated with a summary, but not the article.
    http://www.esquire.com/features/august-2013

DAMON IS NOT A REGULAR GUY.
"He is to regular guys as he says Germans are to Americans—about 5 percent different."
Beers with Matt Damon, by Tom Junod

    http://www.esquire.com/blogs/news/junod-german-cop
Tom Junod was in Germany reporting the final part of his “Most Famous Men in the World” trilogy. The first two profiles were of Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. The third is Matt Damon, out in the August issue.

    Re: Monuments Men

Isn't jimmy kimmel getting married this weekend? I think I remember that it was going to be 4th of July weekend. I would imagine matt and Lucy would be there. If they come back from where they went in time. Whereever they went I haven't seen one sighting of them. Good gor them.

    Kimmel wedding

Wedding invitations indicate a ceremony on 13-14 July at Ojai:
    http://instagram.com/p/bCx6gioTba/#

Molly talks about Matt's appearance on the show:
    http://www.studiosystemnews.com/emmy-spotlight-variety-molly-mcnearney-and-gary-greenberg-exec-producershead-writers-jimmy-kimmel-live/

SSN: You submitted the Matt Damon takeover show for Emmy consideration. Can you talk about that episode?
McNearney: Matt Damon was incredible. Gary and I were nervous. We feel like we gave him a lot of good material but to be able to deliver it—and we were running jokes to him moments before the show taped. He had never done it before, and he just went out and was so confident. He got that material minutes before. He was phenomenal. It would be so funny if we won an Emmy, and basically, Matt won it for a show where Jimmy was tied up the entire time. We’d have to have Matt accept it. Jimmy wrote so much of that show. It was a very good experience for us to have Jimmy there (in the writers’ room), and it was a relief for him to see what it was like to be a writer here and to submit material to someone who could reject it.

    Re: Kimmel wedding

With this invite and the other article posted above its a family only wedding it appears. So maybe matt & Lucy won't be there. (Or John and Emily?).

John and Emily have a home in Ojai so it's an interesting choice of location. I would guess they will attend.

    Matt's Star

Well, you can all breath a sigh of relief. I emailed the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to inform them Matt's star on Hollywood Blvd is in need of some repair. There are cracks in the pink terrazzo and some damage to the charcoal terrazzo around the star. See Instagram pics and look on the left-hand side you'll see what I'm talking about. Well the PR rep for the Hollywood Walk of Fame messaged me back saying that Matt's area is in the next phase of repair starting after Labor Day!
