Fundraiser, Graham Norton Show
  • Matt and Ben are involved in a fundraiser for their charities at Omaze.com. For a donation to their charities, you can win a day with Matt and Ben and attend an event on 22 February. More details are at USA Today.

Affleck and Damon are offering a chance to hang out with them in Hollywood, for a $10 donation. The winner of the drawing, plus one, will be flown to Los Angeles to spend the day with the two Oscar winners at an exclusive Hollywood event and learn what it's like to be..well, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Jokes from the stars are included. "It's great to be working with Matt again," Affleck said in a statement on the site. "It was a little awkward after he didn't get the Robin role, so we couldn't be more excited."

"Yeah, that was tough, but I still have the costume from my audition, so I'm hoping I can wear it when we meet the winners," added Damon.

  • Matt and Ben attended on Thursday a one-woman play by Fanshen Cox called One Drop of Love: A Multimedia Solo Performance on Racial Identity at UCLA. Matt and Ben are producers of the play along with Chay Carter. Cox was a classmate at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Photos of Matt, Ben and Ben's mother Chris outside the venue are at the Daily Mail.

  • An article by Matt's mother, Nancy Carlsson-Paige, on raising grounded children is at CNN.

  • A quote from Jay Leno from USA Today:

As for treasured Tonight Show moments, the host demurs. Too many, he says, then singles out the time he screened a movie he loved and insisted the young, unknown writers come on his show.

"When Matt (Damon) and Ben (Affleck) then won an Oscar (for 1997's Good Will Hunting), it was so fulfilling to see them grow and evolve after that," he says. "But otherwise, there are a zillion things. Everything I have, I owe to the show."

  • Matt will appear on The Graham Norton Show on 14 February with guests Hugh Bonneville and Paloma Faith. The show will be broadcast on BBC and BBC America, and it will be Matt's first appearance on the show.

    CNN article

Watching the photo on the CNN article, I can see why everyone says that little Stella is the spitting image of her dad.

    Tom Papa

A few local TV interviews with Tom Papa where he mentions the pilot project. Tom's been writing since October, they're casting now and will know by May if it goes to air in fall. The Vocalo intv has the most info about the project and Tom's friendship with Matt. He says when they get stuck in meetings he just says something to Matt who then smiles, and execs swoon.

Re: Omaze and Matt's amazing Mum

Felicity (mattdamoncolumn), thanks for sharing the Omaze opportunity to spend the day with Ben and Matt (woohoo!) and help support their charities Eastern Congo Initiative and Water.org. "I'm going on a date with Batman and Robin" -- my Mum will think I have really gone bonkers. hehe. Might have to look into a Wonder Woman costume then :) I like what Matt's Mum said about creativity and child-play. I found that the toys/dolls I played with, are now my values and interests, eg. The Heart Family Barbie dolls (family, love), Tree House Family (ancestry, history, life), and my wonder woman costume (truth, justice, purpose), etc. Recently my daughter found out that she cannot go to university to study composing music for film, because although she did very well at music, she didn't do so well in Science and Maths etc. The whole system needs sorting out to embrace that creativity and not destroy their passion in the arts, music, etc. The alternative option for her is to now study at technical college, however the poorer families can't afford to pay for the courses up front. So, I agree on what Mrs. Carlsson-Paige wrote about schools being a big influence in our children's lives, and regarding the excessive testing (I think based on memory and not learning). I would also like to see homework abolished for more time with family and extra-curricular activities (developing talents and skills). M..

I know I've seen this before so I am not sure why it didn't register until now. In the interview Matt mentions Daniel Craig will be in Monuments Men. Further confirmation that the fact that Craig was and then wasn't cast in the film is totally unrelated to Matt's casting. And that the role probably was written with Matt in mind. LIKE!

Yep. And asked in interviews if Matt thinks he was the first choice he demurs and doesn't answer the question. It's not a secret he wasn't the first choice, but we don't really know who he was originally cast to play if Craig was in the cast.

In other words, Matt was always in the cast. The only two he doesn't mention as cast are Craig are John Goodman's and Hugh Bonneville. So perhaps Craig was to be play one their characters. I'm leaning towards Bonneville.

    Fanshen Cox

A post from Fanshen Cox after Thursday's theater performance:

One Drop of Love: A Daughter's Search for her Father's Racial Approval
Yesterday was surreal. I performed a staged reading of One Drop at the Geffen in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater for 50 LAUSD high school students, Geffen Board members, my amazing co-producers Chay, Ben and Matt - and a documentary crew led by Eric Ortner and Soledad O'Brien. But the very best part of the afternoon came just after I lifted my head from bowing, and a young student had his arms wide open, asking for a hug. Then 10 or so more students all came towards me and we had a cathartic/letting go of our racial hang-ups hug together that was pure magic. Onward on this journey. Thank you for being here with me and for your continued positive energy and thoughts!

    Re: Fanshen Cox

Beautiful! Moments like these that create ripple effect. As much as I like speeches (for example TED talks), I like theater and movies not only for entertainment, but to bring to life the stories like these that need to be told. The stories that change us, and help make the world a better place for us all. Awesome! ❤ M..

    Review

Positive Monuments Men review from Peter Travers at Rolling Stone, who likes the banter between Matt and George. Jean Dujardin will also be on The Graham Norton Show via http://www.clooneysopenhouse.com/

The winner of the 'meet George at the MM premiere' was a woman from Dallas who will be taking her daughter. Good stuff, and it raised $1.2 million.

    Junket interview

A fun junket interview with Matt, John Goodman and Bob Balaban which has nothing to do with the movie. Matt mentions seeing Jay Z with Lucy on his anniversary (which we knew) and John and Bob praise Matt and the Bourne movies. Matt is also asked whether to save Jimmy Kimmel or Miley (he mustn't think much of Miley).
