    Montana

I thought at first it might just be a weekend excursion, but they're obviously still there.

I found this by random. Never heard about that. Do you know this movie? Is it a new or an old one?

Old, came out last year or the year before. A short documentary promoting teachers (the film component was called American Teacher).

    Hi Everyone

Hope this finds you all well and you enjoyed your Africa holiday & the cricket Felicity (mattdamoncolumn. I enjoyed Monuments Men how it tells of how Hitler tried to take everything of the Jews lives, and how the art was mostly found and returned. Schindler's List was more about the Jews being murdered and saw a little bit about their possessions being taken as well, so Monuments Men gave me greater insight into how extreme Hitler was in wanting to totally wipe the Jews out from history. It made me wonder what other history we don't know about because of similar selfish greed confused as righteousness in religion and politics, and conquers of war in the past (for example with the Roman Conquest of Egypt before Christianity was said to be founded). It was also refreshing to see a woman (Claire Simone played by Cate Blanchett, inspired by Rose Valland) to be respected in her heroic part alongside the Monuments Men. As one example, Jewish(?) Rosalind Franklin did not receive recognition of her work on the structure of DNA - awarded to Francis Crick and James Watson. The movie also reminded me of the Australian Aboriginals still fighting for Sovereignty against the British - so I like how the movie teaches respect for different cultures even though the story was about what happened to the Jews. I really enjoyed the movie for the true story of the Monuments Men and as well as all the characters all very well played by the actors, especially Matt :) Kind regards, M..

    Re: Hi Everyone

    M..
check out "Rape of Europa" which is a documentary narrated by Joan Allen about the WWII art of Europe and how the allies how to protect it. It's an excellent doc and the Monuments Men are of course mentioned.

    Margaret

The legal dramas for Margaret have finally been resolved, without actors being required to testify.

Such a good movie, what a shame the way it all worked out. :(

Wow, what a mess one litigious person can make. A shame that Lonergan may never write another movie, just because he'd have to pay that jerk something.

    Monuments Men

Speaking of Monuments Men, I see that the movie has now made just shy of $150 million globally. So, according to Grant's initial reckoning, I guess it's made a profit.

    Re: Monuments Men

Thanks Paula. Imagine how well it could have done if it was a better movie, with stronger reviews.

Still so quiet. Will Matt agree to a new project this year?

    Re: Monuments Men

It wasn't a perfect film although personally I found it quite enjoyable. But it has been Clooney's biggest money making film as a director by quite a bit apparently, so that's something.

Yes, it's almost eerily quiet. I wonder if Matt will be around the set much for the TV project. Then at least we'd hear something.

    Some Matt News!

Well I have some great Matt news to report!!

Matt's star and sidewalk area on the Hollywood Walk of Stars is currently under complete renovation. It's part of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's renovation of the entire walk over several years. I had been told many months ago, after I reported the deterioration of it this past summer, that it would undergo restoration in the new year. When I met Matt in January, I told him of this and he said he'd heard about it, thanked me and shook my hand. That renovation is well under way!!!

    And...

Some of you may recall that over a year ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Pearl Street Films office (when I was working on the Warner Bros studio lot). I introduced myself and gave the office the movie poster for PROMISED LAND a month before the film opened stateside in Dec 2012. I noticed the walls were barren and thought giving them a poster for a film he co-wrote, starred in, and almost directed, would be a nice gesture. Months later, I was told the office moved to it's current digs in Santa Monica. A few weeks ago I was in touch with the assistant whom I gave the poster to, and she told me the poster I gave is now framed and hanging in Matt's office!! :D

    Damon vacation

Matt Damon owns a multi-multi million dollar home at the Yellowstone Club, an exclusive millionaires club adjacent to the Big Sky resort in the Gallatin canyon south of Bozeman, Montana. He spends a lot of time there. Private ski hill and golf course. Provides a secure location for people of fame and fortune.
