    Project Greenlight, Manchester?

We haven't talked much about Project Greenlight lately, but here's an interesting story about
Adriano Valentini, whose short "Beanie Bros." Is my favorite of the top ten finalists. It is flat out funny. For anybody who hasn't seen the top ten, they are very diverse and definitely worth checking out.

Just wondering if Manchester-by-the-Sea is still on. I understand it's a small movie and will probably be a quick shoot, but shouldn't they be on set soon? Doesn't he start on The Martian in a month?

    Matt's Dad

just wondering if anyone knew how Matt's Dad is doing, i think he was diagnosed with cancer and very much hoping he is doing well

    Re: Matt's Dad

He seems well. Apparently he will never be in remission, due to the type of cancer he has, but the cancer has not recurred, I think. Matt attended the MGH cancer charity event with Kent earlier in the year.

FYi, when Matt was on stage at same time as Melissa, Matt laughed at her impressions. It was cute.

A sweet tweet from Donna Freydkin, USA Today journalist (and a great read to monitor on Twitter):

Happy belated birthday to one of the nicest guys I know, #MattDamon, who is as great as you would imagine, only his wife is cooler.

    More info on Martian cast

Finally! The Wrap has some clarification on who's playing who in The Martian. Since I am very high on the book, this is exciting stuff to me. Here's the word from TheWrap:

Community” alum Donald Glover and “Headhunters” star Aksel Hennie have joined the cast of Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi movie “The Martian,” TheWrap has learned.

The 20th Century Fox project stars Matt Damon as an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars and must figure out how to survive long enough to return home to Earth.

“The Martian” boasts an impressive ensemble including Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Mackenzie Davis and Jeff Daniels.

Chastain will play the leader of the rescue mission, while Pena, Mara and Henne will play astronauts.

Daniels will play the director of NASA ,while Wiig will play its director of media relations. Glover and Davis will play bright young NASA employees.

Cool! So Chastain is Commander Lewis and Wiig is Annie Montrose. I'm wondering if Glover will be the "nerd" who figures out the rescue plan. The description of Mackenzie Davis as a "bright you NASA employee" sounds like she may be playing Mindy Park.

Whe the Off Camera interview will come out?
mattdamoncolumn From: mattdamoncolumn Date: October 11th, 2014 12:11 am (UTC) (Link)

    Off Camera, CNN

Sam tweeted it would be online a month after the show originally aired, so it should be around 21 October.

A new interview with Matt and Gary White just aired on CNN with Dr Sanjay Gupta:

    Wil Anderson

On Australian comic Wil Anderson's podcast there's a long discussion with comedian Dave Anthony about Dave hanging out with Matt and Lucy after the first Tom Papa show at the Largo. It starts at about 23.30 and includes a drunken discussion started by Matt about what it would take to ruin Matt's career.

The podcast continues in all sorts of directions but they're still talking about Matt past 40 minutes (note all kind of warnings with the X-rated and offensive dialogue).

    Podcast, and flying to....

Thanks for the podcast, kind of crazy and very interesting.

Matt's at the airport (impressing yet another person with his humility). Maybe heading off to shoot Manchester-by-the-Sea?

    Re: Podcast, and flying to....

No, multiple reports of Matt flying in to LAX, so still no shooting with Lonergan in the offing, I guess.

    Re: Podcast, and flying to....

No, it was just Matt and family flying back from San Jose after the roller derby game in Santa Cruz.

I'm guessing the Lonergan project is off until after the Martian and Bourne (if they don't go ahead with someone else).

(And Australian politics really is that messed up, if you heard all of the podcast.)

    Re: Podcast, and flying to....

Saw a random tweet from a MA reporter that Manchester-by-the-Sea will start filming with Matt in the spring. Hope so, I'm really excited for Matt to work with Lonergan again.

It's so cute to see how excited people get when they meet Matt or hear about a meeting with him from their friends. He really is beloved.

    i think we missed this:

Aside from this show, what else are you developing, as a producer?
MOORE: I had a great experience with Starz, and I guess Starz had an okay experience with me, because there’s another show that I did for Starz that comes out on October 4th, called Survivor’s Remorse. It’s about a basketball player that gets his first big contract. It’s about fame, money and family. It’s totally scripted and at a whole other budget level. I love it. I think the show is really good. I think it explores things that people are curious about. I’m very proud of that. And then, I’m working on another project with Matt Damon, that we’re trying to get quickly put together before he goes off to do his big Ridley Scott movie. I’m focusing a lot of effort on that, and on getting The Chair out there.

Does the Matt Damon movie have a name?
MOORE: It does have a name, but given the fact that I don’t have anybody paying for it yet, I don’t want to jinx it. When I have the Kickstarter campaign for the Matt Damon movie, then I’ll give you the name, so you can publicize it.

Definitely missed that, thanks for the info. Presumably it's the Lonergan project but I hope he's not serious about the kickstarter campaign. Nobody should be donating to a campaign Matt could finance himself (the Zach Braff argument).
