Golden Globes

Nice mention of Matt in Ridley's thank you to the HFPA.

“We are all very excited and very grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for embracing our film and Matt’s brilliant performance so warmly. Making The Martian was one of the highlights of my career and the fact that it is being recognized in such a generous way is fantastic and very much appreciated.”

Re: Golden Globes

Ha!It sounds like Ridley wrote on this site!
Very glad for these nominations, they deserve them. Many kudos for all of them. I have a little thought and thanks also for Andy.
I guess we'll have to cross our fingers very strongly!

Re: Golden Globes

Hi, Everybody!

That was a nice gesture from Ridley Scott.
The G.G. are now the best chance Matt and the movie have to get a major award.
I think Scott and Drew Goddard still have chances of being nominated for the Oscars. And even to win.

After what happened with the SAG nominations, I don't dare to predict anything, but I think is difficult now that Matt has a real shot to be nominated for the Oscars.
In any case, Best Actor is going to be one of the hardest categories to predict.
Eddie Redmayne is great in The Danish Girl. Fassbender should be nominated for Macbeth, instead of Jobs. And I fuckin adore Bryan Cranston.
Will see.
And who knows, maybe Matt will be there too.

RE: Re: Golden Globes

The nominating committee for SAG rotates among their members and obviously this was a wackadoodle committee. So many of the SAG nominations were flat out weird (Nichol Kidman for a truly horrible performance) that I'm not inclined to think of them as representative of the view of the majority of the voters. I still think Matt has a good shot at an Oscar nom. I think Danish Girl is sooooo cheesy (but the kind of cheesy Oscar unfortunately likes), and Trumbo is just a bad movie. I think Fassbender will get in and is probably the favorite. Anybody but Leo.

Re: Matt in pic form

That is so cute and awesome!!! Just made my day. Reminds me of when he re-enacted several pieces from his movies on James Cordin show.

I'm excited for Matt's Golden Globe nomination, despite all the negative critics for the films entry into the 'Comedy' category. Also can't wait to get my hands on The Martian DVD.

Been missing from the blog lately cause I been working a lot, but that's stopping now for the holidays. I was also pre-occupied with media appearances & press for my other fave, Dolly Parton, who's NBC TV movie aired to 13 million viewers last night!! I was able to see her in person at a taping of The Voice on Tue here in LA!

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday Season! Don't forget about Damon Clause :)

RE: Matt in pic form

Hilarious! Love it! He even has a little indentation in his cheek when he lost all the weight for Courage Under Fire. The little outfits and the hair are so accurate and beyond adorable.

Great to have you back Gregory!

RE: Critics Choice Award

Really nice performance for The Martian at Critics choice. It historically is a pretty good predictor of which movies are nominated for Best Picture. It has a number of weird extra categories (like best action actor) but when those are factored out Mad Max, The Martian, Spotlight, Carol, and Revenant were all virtually tied for most nominations.

RE: Various

Lol at Matt saying "is this when I'm invited to complain about how hard it was? Actors like to do that" before refusing to complain about how hard it was.

Anybody else instantly think of DiCaprio? Ha, ha, ha.

Lol, yeah, Matt doesn't seem to have much tolerance for grandstanding.

Re: Palm Spring Film Festival Award

The heartfelt speech that I recall was between them at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

Alicia Vikander's performance in Danish Girl is OUTSTANDING!!!
I really liked her performance, so I'm on-board with her in Bourne.

You may be right, Gregory. My memory is useless for details like that.

Vikander seems very likely to get an Oscar nom.

He may have made a heartfelt speech at Palm Springs too, but I know with certainty he made one in SB. Matt begins at 26:27 and Ben begins at 32:50
