    Jimmy Kimmel

OMG Matt just showed up on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! Instead of being a downer, he got the last laugh, he showed up throughout Jimmy's Oscar special!

First photo-bombing Sacha Baron Cohen's interview at the Governor's Ball
    https://youtu.be/ZGSSxj3_wu0

actually crashing Kimmel's set in the most surprising way. Here's the video!

Here he is at the end of a skit
    https://youtu.be/0Y8iRvQdSGA

And Matt appeared at the close of the show sitting on the steps of the theater alone after having been kicked out, with the gates to the theater being closed behind him.

    Re: Jimmy Kimmel

Really funny, inventive stuff--particularly the Matt/Ben reveal and the audience's explosion of laughter and sustained applause. They outdid themselves. "I feel like Dorothy!"-ROTFL!. And that wonderful shot at the end with Matt alone on the steps--terrific mood shot.

Really liked Leo's speech--very carefully written and with a powerful message. Not a wasted word and no babble. I could almost imagine Matt up there with him adding to the depth with his water message.

If it couldn't be The Martian, Spotlight was an excellent mediating choice.

I though Chris Rock did a good job. We're not used to that much honesty at one fell swoop!

    Re: Jimmy Kimmel

Hated the hypocrisy of Leo's speech and the fawning of him by everyone before and after the win.

    Restoring the balance a little:

Roger Friedman at Showbiz 411 was mocking Leo's expected speech before he even gave it, so it must have been an object of mirth in the industry even when he was preparing it.

    Re: Jimmy Kimmel

Although I think I've demonstrated my lack of respect for a lot Leo has done on this site, I just see him as a very insecure man and not much more. Matt is strong enough to smile and move on--he's a confident super-star. But Leo has done a lot of environmental work. I just gave the devil his due and took his speech for the environmental face value it seemed to me it had. As for who he thanked and whether he meant it or not, I'm not in a position to judge. He'd darned well better have meant it with Scorsese, his movie Italian godfather. And I'm certain the industry laughs at him; it's actually sad, but he appears essentially as a self-important stuffed shirt--in reality he's a little boy begging for approval. In a town full of some of the hardest, least forgiving people on Earth, he is an object of both scorn and pity, despite the fawning surface. He does turn in a good performance every now and then, though.

But, hey, that's just IMHO. I don't have a stake in his life; he's got to live it.

    Re: Jimmy Kimmel

Not knocking you, of course Louie. Roger Friedman was having a go at the earnest 'environmental message' that was going to be in Leo's speech. I don't like Leo's movies, way of life or general attitude, and I don't think grandstanding at the Oscars was a great time for that message when your personal history doesn't back up your stated convictions.

Loved the clips! Ha, ha, Matt and Ben got REALLY close there! Fabulous audience reaction.

I'm also glad that Spotlight won.

Thanks for the link and the tip. The blond woman they are with is Michele Merkin, an old friend and former TV presenter.
