Not Matt's personal make-up artist, but a member of the crew.

    Joel Silver talks about Suburbicon:

    How is Suburbicon coming together?

SILVER: It’s pretty much together now. The Coen brothers originally wrote the script in 1986, right after Blood Simple. I met the Coen brothers at a bowling alley at the premiere party of Blood Simple. I’ve known them 30 years. When we were making The Hudsucker Proxy, they said, “We wrote a script for Warners.” They didn’t even realize they owned it ‘cause it was through an old deal. It took them awhile to find it, but they finally found a copy of the script on microfiche in Fort Lee, NJ in some Warner Bros. vault. It took them a few years to find the script, and then to find out that Warner Bros. owned it. And then, Joel and Ethan wanted to rewrite it because they wrote it in 1986. Through Dark Castle, we paid them and they wrote a new draft of the movie, taking place today, which I got about ten years ago, in 2006. They said, “Well, maybe we’ll direct it. We’re not sure.” And [George] Clooney knew about it ‘cause they had told him about it. It was a part they had written and hoped that he would play, and he was intrigued by that. I was actually in London dubbing [The Nice Guys], and Clooney’s agent called to tell me that I was going to get a call from George. As I was on the phone with him, I got a call from George and he said, “I want to do it, but I want to make a change.” I said, “We own it. We’re sitting on it, so whatever you want to do.” So, he and Grant [Heslov] set it in 1957, and he got Matt [Damon], Julianne [Moore], Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin and Woody Harrelson. It is a really early, perfect Coen brothers script, and George has added a layer to it that really makes it so current, so effective, so topical, and so great. We’re going to shoot it in the fall, and I think it’s going to be a great movie.

It has to take a very specific point of view to add on to a Coen brothers movie.

SILVER: He’s been in so many of their movies. He’s one of their go-to people, so he knows them very well. He matched their writing style. What he did was that he changed an important element of it, and I think it makes it even more exciting.

    Promised Land

I re-watched PROMISED LAND tonight. It was already one of my top 3 Matt Damon movies, and yet somehow I always got tangled in the final speech his character Steve gives at the end. Until tonight, I don't think I ever heard clearly that to the assembly he reveals that Dustin (Krasinksi) also worked for GLOBAL and that the company was trying to trick the citizens of the town on the vote. WOW it made the film even stronger for me that he admits that he was wrong for misleading them and that he has a personal moral dilemma. What a great underrated film.

    Re: Promised Land

I absolutely agree with you, G. He and John wrote a very layered script, and it makes a very strong statement. The reason it gets so little attention is because the right wing did everything they could to bury the film. I really enjoyed it. Also, not many understand the acting mastery Matt displayed (with, no doubt, DeNiro's input)in The Good Shepherd. The emotional compression he uses gives the film a different kind of tension. Of course, you have to let yourself go with the rhythm of the piece to get into it. One of my favorites.

    Re: Promised Land

Thumbs up, but I honestly struggled with The Good Shepherd. I've only watched it once and found it very slow moving :( I was boreeed.

    Re: Promised Land

It is, G. Almost glacial. It's a different kind of film, but when you let yourself go and let it take you, a different sort of experience happens--well, I discovered this on the second viewing because it had Matt, Angelina, DeNiro acting and directing. I figured there has to be something deep here. And there was--at least for me. I did read one critic--can't remember who, but it was a nationally known guy, who had much the same experience. I don't know if it would be worthwhile for you to see it again --worked for me. But, yes, we do share a real appreciation for Promised Land.

    Re: Promised Land

Haha, glacial! I honestly don't think I could re-watch it, but I'm intrigued by your observation 2nd go-round. Syriana was the same was the same way for me. I liked Matt in it, but I barely watched the rest of it.

Matt (and Ben) may be attending the Guys Choice Awards in LA on 4 June. The nominees and further details will probably be released this week.

They've been lifelong friends, and now Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will be taking home a pretty epic honor this summer.

The actors are set to receive the "Guys of the Decade" award at Spike's Guys Choice Awards next month, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

    Re: Photo shoot

Nice! Looking sharp, almost Bond-like. I used to have a subscription to the men's magazine DETAILS but they folded and now I'm getting GQ till my subscription runs out. Hopefully he'll be on the cover of GQ this summer (possibly the July issue?) and make the remainder of my subscription worth while. I miss DETAILS not a fan of GQ.

Here we go - just the photo shoot at this stage for a later issue. Strange to have such a public shoot (and Matt's obviously back in LA for the moment).

    Re: Photo shoot

Meh in LA photoshoots are not that rare, sometimes in public places.
Ironically I did receive the June issue of GQ today, so my guess is that this is for the July or August (probably August) issue which would come out mid-JUly just in time for BOURNE. Dare I say I see a little tummy from Matty? He's looking sharp.

    Re: Photo shoot

Bad photo shoot. Matt on itself is not similar. Why such tight pants? What kind of hairstyle? What is the concept of the image - he's a special agent? Jason Bourne at all not such. And he gained weight again. He was so handsome when he promoted Martian. He is good in dark clothes.(

    Re: Photo shoot

I agree. That doesn't look like Matt and his casual wear. He is an actor, not a model. I wonder how he himself appreciates this kind of photos shooting.

    Re: Photo shoot

He's 45 and looks darn good for it! Just in the one pic I noticed... oh well.
GQ is a men's fashion magazine so of course they have him in something fashionable like a suit. Slim slacks are currently in style for men. I think he looks good and they teased his hair a bit. A more relaxed Matt would the the Town & Country photo spread/article.
Looking forward to the GQ issue :)

The final shots will be so photo-shoppped it won't look much like the Daily Mail pics anyway.

I understand. This is a parody of James bond. I hope so.
