Matt Damon News Column
  • It took almost a week, but one paper has corrected the erroneous AP story about Matt's visit to Africa (it certainly wasn't for scouting film locations) - from the Mercury News.

An item Oct. 19 in the People column erroneously reported that actor Matt Damon became involved with H2OAfrica while scouting movie locations in Africa. Damon joined the organization after a charitable trip to the continent with ONE, an American anti-poverty organization.

  • A press release about the Running the Sahara project and other updates on the film is available at the official website.

  • Another Oscar bait article for The Departed is at USA Today.

  • The public service announcement and other videos for one.org is available at numerous sites, including youtube. Stills from the PSA and the B roll (1) are provided thanks to Clooney Project. Also below is the pop-up from the one.org site.

I would really like Matt to be nominated for a supporting Oscar but don't know if it will happen, Leo's profile is much higher than Matt's so I think he'll get the nomination.

A couple of questions for you, do you know how involved Matt is with his production company, does he make any of the day to day decisions or is he like a sleeping partner, also who's the gorgeous guy next him, very nice. MP

Most of the people in the line (one.org ad) are 'ordinary folk' ie non-celebs. So, nobody famous.

I would think Matt's not very involved in the day to day operations of LivePlanet, apart from special events or projects. Matt was obviously very involved in aspects of Project Greenlight (attending events, spending hours watching competitor videos etc), but would not be involved in the administration/managerial side due to other time commitments.

Same with Running the Sahara, I would guess. Very involved in the set-up of the project, publicity and charity aspects, but he just wouldn't have time for the other stuff.

I think Ben's more hands-on, and is often pictured heading into the LP offices. But then he's based in LA and has more time on his hands.

Thank you. I had a feeling that might be the case, but wanted to ask as you know most things about him, why is it I never see 'ordinary' people like that guy around.

I know he's here at the moment 'enjoying' London's grey wet weather. MP

How long is Matt in London for again? (I forgot! Apoligize). I can not believe i was in London the other week, i always go on the wrong dates damn!
'I know he's here at the moment 'enjoying' London's grey wet weather' - Who would not 'enjoy' the english weather? (In a sarcy tone!)..... (Grey wet weather here in Nottingham aswell surprised? haha - just typical!)

Anyhow thanks for all the updates - appreciated. Also agree with 'Jess' great with all the wonderful things Matt keeps doing. Not b/c he has to etc... but b/c he wants to its brilliant, love the guy! Great what hes doing for 'one.org'...! and also about time the story about 'Africa' was set straight..if you get me meaning.

    Anyhow thanks,

According to one report he was going to be in London for three weeks, but he's already been there for about one of those weeks.

He's filming Bourne Ultimatum there for another couple of weeks.

In one interview he said that "everyone was coming with me" re filming overseas, so I guess the answer is yes.
