Ultimatum moves to Washington, Trek
  • As Matt mentioned during Berlinale interviews, The Bourne Ultimatum was scheduled to film in Washington, and it appears cast and crew are already there - from the Washington Post.

Creeping into town right now for a day or two of shooting: Matt Damon for "The Bourne Ultimatum," along with previous "Bourne" co-stars Joan Allen and Tom Gallop (though not Julia Stiles). We're told director Paul Greengrass will likely be capturing them in iconic Official Washington scenes around the Mall and the Ellipse.

  • More Star Trek rumors here, most notably that the film will probably not cover the Starfleet Academy days, as was widely expected.

Sources advised us that the plot will focus more on Kirk and Spock than the other characters, with Dr. McCoy being more of a supporting role. IGN recently reported that Paramount had three actors in mind for the roles of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, respectively: Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise.

We must stress again that these are the actors that the studio wants; it does not mean that they will indeed be cast, although we hear that Damon is closer to becoming a reality than any other rumored contender. Repeated inquiries for confirmation or denial to Damon's reps at Endeavor and to Brody and Sinise's at CAA have gone unanswered.

I'm no trekkie, not by a long shot, but I knew that if they were considering Matt, Brody, & Sinise, they couldn't possibly have had 20 something age groups in mind. So I'm not surprised that that's *not* what the movie will cover. Also, thank goodness for the bloke who stood up and said, "These people are not attached yet." I'm certainly glad of that, and I believe I've heard most trekkies are too (not that I can understand why they wouldn't want Matt to bring a little grace & dignity to the francise, but to each his own). I'm hoping the boxing movie might be just as overblown as well.
