    Wow. Just. Wow.

    *begins countdown*

It's a different approach, but as it's just a teaser poster we'll get a more detailed one soon.

On the countdown thought - from Variety today:

"Ultimatum" opens day-and-date Aug. 3 in 10 countries and rolls out in August and September.

    i don't get it

Maybe I am missing something. I do not like the poster. So, is he leaving New York headed for 'home' and the shot being taken from the backside to say that, at this point, we/he does not know his full history or identity? Therefore, we only see the back of his beautiful head which is almost like staring at a blank face? New York is not home for David Webb.
I could go on, but having typed some of what I am thinking out I believe that I am making much to much of the whole thing -lol-
Thanks for posting and for all of your hard work. I don't think we could ever say it enough. I love this column!!

    Re: i don't get it

It's only a teaser poster, as the full studio/cast/crew details aren't on the sheet. Probably a quick mock-up to get something out for ShoWest.

Only the last third of the movie takes place in New York - it's still primarily based in Europe.

As a teaser poster I think it is good. I think it should generate some expectations. I suspect the 'real' poster when it comes will be quite different. But who knows!? Jan

Finally decided I hate the poster. One of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen and they give us the back of his head. What's the point of a Matt Damon poster that doesn't show his beautiful blue eyes? Yes I know it's a teaser but just wanted to give my opinion.

Had the house to myself on Friday afternoon so watched Stuck on You (very sweet and touching I really like it). I though Eva Mendes career would really take off but so her decision to be in the truly abysmal Ghost Rider is baffling to me.

I think she's a gorgeous woman, and very good actress, sorry actor, surely she can get better parts than that. MP

As I post here so often I've decided to out myself, you can call me Marcia.

    Hi Marcia!

I think the poster's trying to stand out from the floating heads with an unusual look, and it works, mostly, to me. I don't think NY is that central to the plot, however (it's basically background to a car chase, it seems like).

BTW - there's lots of footage on youtube of the car chase being filmed around New York - and Matt looking very happy on set (laughing, waving and talking to all around him ).

Thanks for that will have a look at youtube later at home. He's such a happy bunny all the time, how does he manage it?

Just re-read my post doesn't make a lot of sense, sorry for the spelling and grammar haven't quite woken up yet this morning. Never drink Pina Coladas on a Sunday night when you've got to work the next day. Marcia

I like the poster very much. To me it appears as if Jason is looking forward instead of behind his back, ready to face things. But that's just me.

    Ah, nice deduction there Maureen.

    Maureen,

I like your interpretation of the poster. That makes a lot of sense.

    Felicity,

Do you have inside knowledge of the script of BU? How do you know the last 1/3 of the movie will be in New York? And how do you know that New York is not important to the movie? Why would they have it on the poster if it is not?
mattdamoncolumn From: mattdamoncolumn Date: March 13th, 2007 02:10 am (UTC) (Link)
    It's just my opinion.

I've previously reported that the final scene of Supremacy takes place 2/3 of the way through Ultimatum. That leaves approximately 1/3 of the film for New York, of which the car chase will be a significant part. And we know how much filming they did in Europe (Pinewood standing in for the CIA scenes mostly in whatever location). NY is where he goes to get answers and the ultimatum (albeit it will of news to cast and crew) - thus the poster and tagline.

    Can't wait for Bourne Ultimatum

I just love Matt Damon! But I'm dissapointed with this poster. Hope they get a shot of his face. It will be nice to see Matt's face in all highway billboards.

Cool!! I'm looking forward to seeing this film, just like I have with both other films. I'm happy to see that there's a teaser poster now.

I'd be disappointed in the poster, too, if this was the final version of it, but as a teaser, I think it's effective. I like your interpretation, Maureen -- the idea that Bourne is looking forward rather than back, ready to face his future -- and I like the confidence the marketers display in only showing Matt's back. Not only is the poster a tease of what's to come, it's almost as if they're teasing us with their decision not to show Matt's face!

I'm a total fanboy of the first two Bourne movies, so I'm looking forward to TBU with great anticipation. And I think it was especially considerate of Matt to open the movie four days before my birthday, as a special little gift to me.

What? Of course that's how they decided on that date... ;-)

Wow! What great info _ Odd Poster though!

I am in pain since I need a root canal - which I hope to have tomorrow - a little birthday present to myself. So, being somewhat depressed, I went to your web-site. Am very happy now! Thanks fso much for putting the poster here. At first, I didn't like it, but some of the other folks posting here convinced me that it is pretty cool. As Marcia(? sorry, no memory) said it shows confidence. Thought the interpretation that Jason is facing his future was inspired. -- Loved the information from ShoWest. Thank you so much for all the great info and pictures! Best wishes, Cheryl

Re: Wow! What great info _ Odd Poster though!

It wasn't me who showed that psychological insight to the poster (I wish it had been) it was Maureen. I hadn't thought of it either and agreed with her comment. There are some very smart people on this site. Hope you feel better soon. Marcia

th poster is not as impressive as it was in previous two films.in bourne supremacy, matt damon is shown with a snifer rifle and he is very focussed.it was really mind-blowing i hope they can find such kind of pic for this film too
