Walk of Fame ceremony
  • Photos of Matt, his mother Nancy, Lucy and Paul Greengrass at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony are available at Just Jared, PopSugar, yahoo, Wireimage, Getty, Splash and Celebrity Mound - some below. Matt is the 2,343rd person to get a star, but only the third Bostonian.

  • Video footage of the ceremony, and an interview with Nancy (to Matt's surprise) is at CBS, and other reports are at Access Hollywood and AP, including:

"I can't believe I'm standing on a star with my name on it. I'm going to show my kids that," Damon beamed during the ceremony.

"Ben and I lived in a really crappy apartment about five blocks away from here and we used to walk up and down here. It'll probably sink in when I've walked down the street in about six months and see someone peeing on my star," he laughed.

"A few times in my life I've had these experiences that are just kind of too big to process and this looks like it's going to be one of those times," Damon said during a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony attended by his wife, mother and a throng of screaming fans.

  • Defamer reports that Matt was congratulated in ads from Universal, Endeavour, Jimmy Kimmel and the Red Sox, as shown below - updated with the Kimmel ad.

Kimmel writes, "Congratulations on the star and sorry we ran out of time. We'll try to squeeze you in soon." Kimmel closes the print ad by stating, "This ad cost me $8,512."

Hi Jess - good to hear from you. They both look gorgeous, and more pics from the premiere later.

And I love the Red Sox ad.

    A Star At Last

I must admit to feeling a bit misty about his star. I remember that first Vanity Fair interview, when he could not imagine earning $5 million dollars for a role. Back then, he envied the roles given to actors like Chris O'Donnell, Matthew McConnaghey, and Brendan Frasier. Now, they must envy him.

It hasn't been an easy climb. There was that year when he didn't work. The disappointing Oscar snubs. The reviews that gushed over flashier roles while overlooking his more natural, nuanced performances. But he hung in there, with humor, class and integrity.

Now, the Bourne Ultimatum is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer, and the early reviews are strongly positive, not just of the film, but of him.

For me, this day recognizes that he has established himself as someone with a permanent place in movie history -- not just the latest flavor of the month. A star at last. Yes, he is a star at last.

    Re: A Star At Last

Nicely said. It's great in theory, except we know it's really another marketing strategy by Universal and that the studio paid for the star, and promised to pay for its upkeep.

But Matt looked surprisingly moved in one of the photos, and it would certainly be a celebratory event - two distinctly LA ceremonies in one year.

I love him so much. Would have been cool if Ben was there too :)

Yeah, I thought that was strange. Ben and Jennifer Garner did go to the premiere.
