Interviews, various, Amsterdam photocall
  • A new interview with Matt is at Melbourne's Herald Sun, including:

There are movie stars, and there are movie stars. Some follow the Robert De Niro path, avoiding interviews and addressing the business of movie promotion with a curled lip.

Then there's Matt Damon, who last fortnight in Melbourne showed he could represent his nation in the promotion Olympics. He named a fan's baby on Fox FM, yukked it up at a somewhat random picture opportunity with new Premier John Brumby and posed with his new buddy, poker champ Joe Hachem, at dinner.

But Damon says he might not always be so accessible.

"It's something that's constantly changing and you have to see how invasive it is in your life. I'm afforded a very quiet, normal life so if I felt that this was contributing to that changing in any way then I would stop doing this," he says.

"Right now I can do these things and I'm very professional and everyone who comes in is very professional. The boundaries are all observed and we all go home and the movie gets the requisite amount of promotion and everyone's happy on the studio side and I go back to a very nice normal life. It seems like the right thing to do."

    On making The Brothers Grimm...

"It was one of those experiences making movies where you go to work with your lunch box and your hard hat and you end up in the middle of a blood feud," Damon says, now able to laugh about it.

  • A Berlin premiere interview is at Germany's Vanity Fair online, including Matt talking about allowing Alexia to watch only one scene from Ultimatum, and other fatherhood issues:

"Every day is a new and exciting challenge. Nothing in the world makes me happier than my girls. I want at least one more child."

  • Gala has a great collection of Matt photos, including most ex-girlfriends and random others, including this one of Matt and Brad Pitt at the Bourne Identity premiere. More Berlin premiere photos are here.

  • Extra reported on Matt's acupuncture treatment at the Berlin premiere (although one German article says he didn't completely trust the treatment and also had some painkilling needles):

Matt Damon sported an interesting accessory to the Berlin premiere of “The Bourne Ultimatum” – an acupuncture needle!

"Extra" spotted the superstar with a needle in one of his ears as he strolled the red carpet.

A rep for Matt told "Extra," "Matt had a terrible spasm in his neck/back and he had to have acupuncture. Those are acupuncture ‘needles’ in his ear."

  • And the Boston Globe's response:

    Bourne to be tough

If Matt Damon isn't the hardest-working man in Hollywood, we don't know who is. The guy's grueling promotional tour for "The Bourne Ultimatum" continued this week with a stop in Berlin. But it looks like the hype is having a deleterious effect on his health. Damon walked the red carpet with three tiny needles stuck in his right ear. Damon's rep told "Extra" that the Cambridge-bred actor had suffered neck and back spasms, so sought help from an acupuncturist. That's commitment.

  • Sean O'Regan of Canada AM interviewed runner Ray Zahab and mentioned Running the Sahara, which may be previewed at Toronto but is not on the Toronto Film Festival schedule.

O'REGAN: Ray, very quickly, are you going to be here at the Toronto Film Festival? You had a big documentary coming out, that you worked on with Matt Damon, I understand?
ZAHAB: Yeah, "Running the Sahara". We'll be there for the One X One gala. So, we're very excited about that. And to be part of that, it's going to be incredible. So, I'm very, very excited to be there. And of course that's highlighting as well the water situation in northern Africa.

  • Here's a follow-up to Matt's story on Letterman about entering a radio contest but losing to Sean Connery. Second prize must have been a plasma TV, which was donated by Sea Spray Auto to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Florida. There's video at YouTube of the TV being presented to the hospital here, with the following caption.

Thanks to Matt Damon, we won this TV from WBGG BIG 105.9 fm. They had a "who do you know famous" contest. Matt Damon called in for us and we won. We then donated the TV to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, FLA, where it was placed in the outpatient treatment room. Thanks Matt.

  • Update: Yahoo has the first photos of Matt meeting the press in Amsterdam, with one caption stating that Matt has a pinched nerve in his neck.

Bourne Ultimatum - The Movie Show

The Bourne Ultimatum was featured on this week's edition of The Movie Show. Lisa Hensley reviewed the film and gave it four and a half stars, and Michael Adams interviewed Matt. The show is available as a podcast, just follow the links on the show's official site.

Re: Bourne Ultimatum - The Movie Show

And you can also just watch the single interview. Thanks for the post - I never watch that show.

"I just brood and walk around train stations all over Europe". He he.

An interview with Matt and a review on "At the movies" is at the ABC site. David Stratton interviewed Matt but always hates shaky camerawork, so he gave the movie its probably lowest rating ever (2/5). Matt's description of the camerawork (and being camera-flashed by fans) is probably the most detailed I've heard.
