Variety article response, Jennifer Garner radio interview
  • LA site Defamer is also befuddled by the Peter Bart article at Variety last week. Pro-Matt (and anti-Bart) comments are also at Defamer and Variety.

  • A project that Matt was rumored to be involved with a few months ago will now be cast with Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal - details at Variety. The project is scheduled to start in November (and Matt says he won't be working again until January).

Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are in negotiations to star in Jim Sheridan's "Brothers" for Relativity Media.

The film, a remake of Susanne Bier's Danish-language war drama, centers on a man (Maguire) who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep brother (Gyllenhaal) cares for his wife and child.

  • An Australian radio interview with Jennifer Garner where she talks about the trip to Hawai with "the Damon's" and why she'll never do a romantic movie with Matt is at SAFM.

  • The Bourne Ultimatum continues to perform superbly outside the US - details at Variety. Its world-wide box-office is now $339,879,814.

Superspy Jason Bourne hit the target again at the international box office as "The Bourne Ultimatum" dominated a typically moderate early fall frame with $20.8 million at 4,333 playdates in 46 markets.

The third Bourne pic has topped U's expectations in showing continued traction in multiple markets en route to a $125 million overseas cume. It's already surpassed "Bourne Supremacy" at $112 million and "The Bourne Identity" at $92 million. It is still to open in 14 territories, including Italy and China in November.

It's become only the third pic in 2007 to win four foreign frames, joining "Shrek the Third" and "Night at the Museum," which won the first five weekends of the year.

  • The Mattafix video in support of Darfur, now including Matt, is at Yahoo news.

Loved those comments at Defamer, nice to see that others out there think behaving like a decent human being isn't a bad thing. Peter Bart what is he on? I've read the Variety article a couple of times and still don't get it? Did he miss out on tickets for the Bourne premiere or something? Was he high/drunk?

I have no objection to critical articles being written about those in the public eye, but I do expect them to be well-researched and truthful, his rant about Matt is totally off the wall, even a minimal amount of research would have disproved everything he wrote.

Ultimatum has been the no.1 film here since it's release and only this weekend was kicked off the top stop, still no. 3 though. The trailer is still running on Channel 4!! (someone there must love it), I've never seen that happen before, usually the trailer stops shortly after the movie opens.

Thanks for the updates Felicity, great as always. Marcia

Tobey Maguire is not a good enough actor to take that role in "Brothers". Matt would have been better.

also just heard the Brad Pitt is taking over Matt's role in the Fighter because of scheduling conflicts.

It's great news - reported by Variety and the Hollywood Reporter.

The reports claim filming will start in fall 2008 after Pitt's current project.

I'm thrilled: no Wahlberg and no average-sounding boxing project, although it's got to have some appeal to attract Pitt (or maybe it was the Aronofsky factor).
