  • Photos of Matt, Lucy and Isabella in Los Angeles on Friday 7 December are at x17 Online and Celebs and Bubs.

  • A reminder: Matt will be on Monday's Today show to discuss The Bourne Ultimatum's release on DVD and other projects. If anyone can watch the show, can you please provide a summary in the comments section? Thank you.

  • From an article on film industry textile artist Janet Melody at the Hickory Daily Record, where Janet talks about stars she has worked with.

While waiting around to shoot, Matt Damon won’t accept a warming coat if there isn’t one for all the extras. Everyone who works on a movie with him gets a handwritten thank-you note.

According to her CV she hasn't worked with him since 'Legend of Bagger Vance', but I doubt things have changed.

I've certainly read before that Matt gives all crew members presents after each movie.

From what I've read it's normal practice for stars to give gifts to the crew after filming has ended, though some are more generous than others. Getting a hand written note is very special, especially when you look at the credits on most movies these days, they go on forever.

I hope Matt and Lucy enjoyed their anniversary yesterday, I can't believe its two years already. Thanks for posting all those lovely pictures, you put a couple of my favourites in there. Marcia

Wow, I really hate to say anything bad about a quote that puts Matt in such a good light, but that's got to be a load of bull. No man's a mountain and no man could consistently write handwritten thank you notes to every single person who worked on a movie with him. A friend of mine was a featured extra in 'The Good Shepherd' and he didn't recieve a thank you note. Now, maybe what Ms. Melody means is that he gives thank you notes to everyone who directly works with or for him. Or, and even this is a stretch of the imagination, he gives notes to everyone who makes the credits. Or, quite possibly (though its my least favorite of scenarios), other people write his notes for him...and even it that case, it's the thought that counts. But seriously, as much as I would truly love to believe that that could be true, it's just too unbelievable. ...Still, I'll hope that I'm wrong, because if he does that, however he manages to do it, that is an incredible thing to do.

It sounds like a fantasy to me also. I would believe that he may write notes to people that have worked closely with him.

I'm referring to the crew receiving thank-you notes and during The Legend of Bagger Vance I was a below-the-line crew person who received a hand-written thank you. I have no idea whether Mr. Damon pens thank-you notes to background extras or not, but during the filming of Bagger Vance he treated them with the same courtesy that he treated the AD's, department heads, crew, etc. If you've been around the Biz for any length of time you are aware that courtesy towards background extras is not always the case and that on some films they are treated rather harshly. Matt was always kind, gracious, polite and easy to work with.

    Cordially,
    Janet Melody
