Bourne filming, sighting, project rumor

  • A great series of photos and descriptions of Matt filming The Bourne Ultimatum in New York last Saturday is at aLive from New Spoiler warning.

  • A sighting from Star magazine, thanks to Sammie323's Effluvia.

Matt Damon having brunch with his wife Luciana, their 8 month old daughter Isabella and Luciana’s daughter Alexia, 8, at Silver Spurs diner in NYC's West Village on Feb 18 and marvelling about the Dixie Chicks sweeping the Grammys.

  • Another rumored project is at IESB, but it's unsourced. Another report on the project is at Moviehole.

The word on the street is Brothers, and it looks like Columbia/Relativity Media are out to nab Sam Raimi and Matt Damon for the American version, which is based on the Danish film by Susanne Bier. The story surrounds—surprise, surprise—two brothers. One is a go-getter with a successful life and family who goes off to war in Afghanistan, while the younger is a recently paroled "lahoo-suher."

When things go wrong for superbro, he ends up missing and feared dead. Loserbro then finds purpose in rising to the occasion and becoming the glue of his brother’s family. No confirmation on whether it’ll be Saving Private Damon or Encourage Under Fire. David Benioff’s on board as the writer, with Michael De Luca and Sigurjon Sighvatsson producing.

    The Moviehole report:
“Brothers” tells the story of Michael, a chap who has everything under control: a successful military career, a beautiful wife and two daughters. His younger brother is a drifter, living on the edge of the law. When Michael is sent to Afghanistan on a UN mission the balance between the two brothers changes forever. Michael is missing in action - presumed dead - and his wife is comforted by the brother, who against all odds shows himself capable of taking responsibility for both himself and the family. It soon becomes clear that their feelings have developed beyond mutual sympathy. When Michael comes home, traumatized by being held prisoner in the mountains of Afghanistan, nothing is the same...

  • Update: More details about the Star Trek movie are from MTV, including:

Casting has not yet officially begun on the flick, which is scheduled to film in the fall. The writers won't even confirm which characters appear. ("We never said Bones was in it," Orci seemed to joke.) As for recent rumors that Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise were being considered to play the storied Kirk, Spock and McCoy trio, the duo were reluctant to spill the beans. Asked if they would be happy if Kirk were played by Damon, a long pause followed. Finally Kurtzman allowed, "I'm the hugest Matt Damon fan ever. If he became [Kirk], great."
