  • A clip from the OneXOne San Francisco auction with Matt and Josh Groban is at YouTube.

  • Margaret is expected to be released in 2009, but still does not have a confirmed release date. A brief report on rumors about the film is at Hollywood Elsewhere.

  • Matt is believed to have worked with Feeding America on Thanksgiving - a report is at Access Hollywood.

  • Update: Details on the possible David Fincher project Torso are at EW Online:

Matt Damon, David Fincher thriller 'Ness' in limbo

Ness sounds like the kind of film most studios dream of: a glossy David Fincher-directed crime thriller about famed Al Capone adversary Eliot Ness, headlined by Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, and Rachel McAdams. So why hasn't Paramount gotten around to making the darned thing?

That's the question around town as the clock ticks on the studio's rights to the project, which are due to expire on Dec. 15. A source inside the negotiations says Damon and Affleck are ready to go, and that McAdams has expressed interest, but Paramount has yet to pull the proverbial trigger. At press time, the studio insisted it only recently received a finalized script from Ehren Kruger (The Ring) and would make a decision before the rights ran out.

    Great Profile Shot

Matt takes good profile shots. What's with Margaret? It sounds like an interesting plot. It's an independent release so I'm wondering why the delay?

    Re: Great Profile Shot

Matt shot Margaret concurrently with 'The Good Shepherd', so it's been delayed a long time. There's lots of rumors about the movie - the director Kenneth Lonergan is now said to have legal issues with the studio, but there have been problems due to the length of the film, poor test screenings and a lack of commitment by the studio Fox Searchlight.

Some reviews posted on IMDB were quite strong, but it appears that Lonergan was a perfectionist, didn't want to release the film for a long time, and is now stuck with a poor product he doesn't want to release.

Alison Janney (a cast member) said years ago that Margaret was a lot better than the other film she was working on, Juno.

Those pics really illustrate how naturally expressive his face is. In those photographs he looks alternately boyish, grizzled, world-weary, friendly, even a little ticked. Part of what makes him such an interesting screen actor I suppose.

And man, Paul Greengrass BETTER be a great director, he must be spending a fortune - it's the shoot that never ends! I mean, didn't Matt start shooting Green Zone istead of Milk? And now Milk's coming out - and Green Zone's still shooting!? Was Bourne U an endless shoot like this?

    Re: Pics

Yep, the Bourne Ultimatum shoot only stopped because the movie was due to come out - they were still shooting up until about two weeks before release (and editing until the night before). Remember that in the middle of the re-shoots Matt said he would never do another Bourne? That was due to the monotony of the re-shoots.

Hopefully these re-shoots are a little more organised. They've done a couple of weeks in Morocco and now some time in London, and they had a long break to consider the ending while Matt filmed The Informant. However, I think there's been shooting on Green Zone literally all year (and already rumors that about $30 million of footage has been scrapped prior to the Morocco re-shoots).

    Interesting info about the re-shoots

Thanks for the great pics. Love the one you posted, great shot! Even loved the upside down "ninja" logo on his jacket. I'm brand-defective, so I don't know what brand it is, but thought it was funny. I remember reading that they (Greengrass, Matt) said that the re-shoots on Bourne Ultimatum were mainly due to the lack of a script. Mmmh, wonder if they had the same problem on Green Zone? By the way, the Bourne Ultimtaum script that Tony Gilroy did was horrible!! At least, the version that is available on the Internet, am really glad they changed it for the movie. I did wonder why Margaret kept getting new release dates but never actually showed up in the theaters. Anyway, as always, thanks so much for all the updates! Take care, Cheryl

Re: Interesting info about the re-shoots

Officially, they've claimed all have stuck by the script for Green Zone but lots of unofficial reports say that a completed script does not exist, or that Greengrass has pretty much re-written Helgeland's script.

The coat you see Matt wearing in the full-length photos has quite a history - Matt's worn it on set for quite a while. In photos from earlier this year the coat has less badges, and one that's definitely been added is for ADM (presumably representing Archer Daniels Midland of The Informant). I think the badges primarily represent filming locations.
