Matt Damon News Column
Green Zone, Ness
  • Jason Isaacs discussed Green Zone in an interview at the Jerusalem Post:

His next film, though, is not another Harry Potter movie, but Green Zone, a thriller about American soldiers in Iraq, early in the war, with Matt Damon. Directed by Paul Greengrass (United 93), he calls it a "really nail-biting thriller."

  • A marketing article on OneXOne.

  • David Fincher discussed the Ness/Torso casting rumors, stating that Rachel McAdams has not been approached. There has been no word yet on if or when the film is going ahead.

  • A Green Zone military adviser and body double for Matt, JAC Sgt. First Class Christopher C. Slaughter, discussed his role in the film here, including:

Q: What was the worst thing?
    A: Being in Morocco.

Q: What was the best thing in working with Matt Damon?
A: Matt is a really humble guy. He’s one of the best in the business, yet he was still open to taking advice, especially on the military aspects of the film in order to make sure the movie is as realistic as possible. The entire crew were really good about that with me and the other military guys that were on the set. (a few actors were hired because they were former military as well).

    Thank You

I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for all the great work you've done on this site all year. I know it's been a struggle at times with all those horrible trolls, but I know that Matt's true fans appreciate all the work you do.

I haven't been around much having been pretty sick over the last few weeks, but I want you to know that I avidly read your column and hope you have a superb 2009.

    Best wishes

    Re: Thank You

Thanks very much Marcia - sorry to hear you've been sick (and over the holiday period too).

It's been a very strange Matt year without any releases and a lot of backlash. Hopefully next year is more positive with up to four movies being released.

There was one blog report that Matt and family (with mother Nancy and her husband) were in Buenos Aires, Argentina, around the Christmas period. A local report says Aussie poker player Joe Hachem will be celebrating New Year's Eve with Matt in Miami, so he's probably back in the US by then.

Here's another really fun Matt radio interview around election time if readers want a dose of Matt: talking about Rounders making it into the black and all sorts of non-election things.

Thank you. The radio interview was good fun - Matt's so willing to get off topic and keep the radio hosts happy and throw in an election plug at the end.
