Mandela Project photos, Adjustment Bureau casting

  • An intern at casting agency Mackey Sandrich has inappropriately disclosed that director George Nolfi is meeting with Jessica Biel about the lead female role in Adjustment Bureau. In an article for her home-town paper, additional information about the character was also revealed.

I've spent the past few days calling girls to schedule auditions, taping auditions on camera, and calling dance schools all over the country looking for a girl to play the lead role opposite Matt Damon. The role is obviously being offered to stars first. The other day I listened to my boss schedule a meeting with the movie’s director and Jessica Biel. Actors on my level have to audition, Jessica Biel gets to decide where she would like to meet so they can "talk" about the part.

[Role description] Female, between the ages of 23-33. A dancer, ballet, lyrical jazz... in the movie she must be believable as a ballerina, OPEN ethnicity, that means she could be black, asian, hispanic... she is comfortable with herself, confident about approaching people, attractive and you need to have some acting experience.

Auditions are happening in New York this week and next.

    Informant

A very postive review of a test screening of The Informant (with Soderbergh in attendance) is at the IGN boards:

    Jessica Biel Seriously!

The intern shouldn't have posted that story to the internet, but having done so, I'm staggered. She's one of the worst actresses I've ever seen, she's beyond wooden, I'm sure her beauty is the only reason she even finds work. As a critic once famously said of someone else 'she runs the gamut of human emotions from A to B'. Matt will probably make the final decision on who he works with, I just pray it isn't her.

And my worst pictorial nightmare has come true ... Matt in a shell suit, kill me now! Marcia

    Re: Jessica Biel Seriously!

Jessica Biel would be a terrible choice.

Here's an interview with Matt in Parade magazine to promote Running the Sahara:

a movie with jessica biel would be the end of his career

come on!she doesn't know how to act at all.i think someone suggested amy adams before.she would be great or may be anne hathaway.she definitely looks like a ballerina or kate winslet.i heard two years ago that she was dying to do that role in revolutionary road with matt.they will have great chemistry.

Re: a movie with jessica biel would be the end of his career

wow, this one is difficult, because Hollywood is a virtual vacuum when it comes to finding a talented actress under 33 years of age who can fit this role to a tee. You need someone who is young, but not so young that she'll end up making her leading man look like her much older brother, or worse yet, father. You need someone who is athletic who has a natural dancer's gait (she's lanky maybe, but graceful), beautiful undoubtedly and most importantly, an amazing actress.

I'd actually love to see an actress of color in this role if George Nolfi has the guts enough to do it. I'm inclined to think he's less likely to take the risk, but it might be fun to get someone fresh, new and unexpected for a change.

Possible additions to the list-- Zoe Saldana (professionally trained dancer and actress), Olga Kurylenko, Kerry Washington, Emily Blunt, and (I know it's a stretch acting wise) maybe even Jessica Alba ...

But who knows, the right unknown might deliver an effective performance.

you know what?emily blunt is a good suggestion.i admitt i haven't seen much of her movies except for the devil wears prada(which she was oscar snubbed for)but i think she will have chemistry with matt and wouldn't end up making matt look like her brother or father.

Re: a movie with jessica biel would be the end of his career

I like the Zoe Saldana idea (Centre Stage!)

Stay far, far away from Jessica Biel. She's a classic actress of the moment with all fame (derived from men's magazines) and little talent.

Re: a movie with jessica biel would be the end of his career

I would prefer an unkown in the role. I can't think of a single actress within the age bracket they are looking for in Hollywood who would be suitable. Jessica Biel is just one of many with a good body and a pretty face and little else. Anne Hathaway is the least objectionable to me, though a bit tall to play a ballerina, I like the idea of Kate Winslet too; Emily Blunt again good but again probably too tall, she's currently in Young Victoria, portraying Queen Victoria who was tiny, with mixed reviews.

Thanks for all the latest information. Marcia

    Re: Zoe Saldana

Zoe next appears as Lt. Uhura in the big screen adaptation of the original Star Trek series. You may all remember that it was rumored that Matt had been initially approached for the role of James Kirk.

This is off topic, but I just found Matt's look-a-like and the resemblance is really astounding. This kid could be his little brother. A real cutie too. ;) You can check him out on NBC's King's:

The teens who play Lynette's twins on ABC's Desperate Housewives also look so much like Matt, it's freaky:

wow some amazing pics and news are around these days... like that ;).

first name popping up for the female role is... Julia Stiles. why? she did a ballet dancer role before, she is about 10 years younger and Matt + Julia have a great chemistry too. don't you think so? well I liked their acting appearance so far ;).

but unknown fresh blood would be fine as well. there are so many talented dancer with acting experience or great ambition around the world. give them a try. guess Nolfi isn't risk-averse at all :).

    Julia Stiles

I like that idea of her being in the role. She is perfect for it.

I hope they choose an unknown for this role. Bring someone new into the spotlight who is a talented dancer and actress. Matt can already carry any film on his own, so they really should give someone new a shot!
