Informant premiere, TV appearances
  • On Tuesday Matt appeared live on Good Morning America, filmed scenes for The Adjustment Bureau at City Hall and the East River, filmed an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and attended the New York premiere of The Informant!. The pre-taped skit for Jimmy Kimmel Live! also aired. Matt's appearance on GMA is available at the ABC site, and the fun appearance on Jon Stewart's show will also be available on official website. The following photos from the premiere are from Yahoo and Wireimage.

  • Photos of Matt in New York on Monday are at PopSugar. On Tuesday Matt filmed scenes with the US Coast Guard and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Photos are here, with reports on the meeting with Bloomberg at the New York Daily News (including a video), the New York Times and another report here. In the video Matt is asked by the reporter whether he is a New York voter. Matt says he lived in Florida but he moved back to NY last week after four years in Miami. He says they're here for the year and trying to figure out whether "we stay in NY or, gasp, move to LA. We’re taking it as it comes right now."

Reporter, to Mr. Bloomberg: How do you know each other?
Mr. Bloomberg: All young sex symbols know each other.
    (Laughter ensued.)
Reporter, to Mr. Damon (who is 38): How do you know each other?
Mr. Damon: Are you the real press playing the press in the —
Mr. Loeser: They’re actually the real press.
Mr. Bloomberg (who is 67): Whether they’re the real press is debatable. Let’s say they are employed by the real press.
Mr. Damon: No, I literally — we’ve met on a number of occasions over the years. We were trying to get the Olympics here and actually the morning I got married he knew about it and he came in and he sat and it was really great. It was a really special, private moment and, it was — you really — it was my wedding, what can I say? One of the best days of my life.

  • Esquire magazine includes an article titled the 'Best People in the World - Good People List' in their current issue (Matt is on the cover). Matt tops their list of Best Person in the World, based on the following criteria:

The 75 Best People in the World
The world is full of good people. Noble, selfless, generous people who help the helpless, who continue to push when the world says retreat, who embody the better angels of our nature. This is not a list of those people. This is a list of men and women who, by virtue of skill or character, make us happy — happy that they're among us, happy that they do what they do, happy that they're successful. Each of them possesses exceptional talent, of course, but each also satisfies two special requirements: Would we like to have a drink with this person? And would we trust this person with our puppy?

    1. Matt Damon

For all the reasons detailed in our October issue's cover story. But also because — and we're not afraid to say it — he's radiant.

  • Clips from the Kimmel skit are at SeriouslyOMG and EOnline.

  • Matt's interview for Digg based on viewer questions is now up at Digg.com and other video interviews are at Cineplex and here.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Interview on UK TV tonight

The interview with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show should be on tonight 16th Sept on More4 at 8:30pm in the UK, channel 138 on Sky.

I really hope they don't move to LA, after seeing what happens to Ben and Jennifer when they try and take there daughter to school that would be awful for Matt and Lucy's girls to have to put up with that. They seem to get more peace in NY.

The Kimmel skit is brilliant, so funny

Thank you again for all these updates, its the best place on the web to get my Matty updates, i cant wait to see The Informant

Re: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Interview on UK TV tonight

Matt's always says he would move to Boston after time in Miami, and then he talked about Dallas or Kansas City (to Herndon last year) and now maybe LA. Perhaps Boston and New York are too cold for Lucy, and they do have friends in LA. Wonder if they're ever going back to Miami, or it's a clean break - Alexia has certainly started school in NY. They've worked on their house for too long in Miami to not go back, you would think.

The Jon Stewart show is great.

For Australian readers, Matt is interviewed on At the movies (ABC) tonight at the Venice Film Festival.

Re: Matt Damon on Michael Douglas kiss

Thanks. There's another good interview at MTV just up:

"I have the opposite of anorexia," he joked to MTV News while at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I look in the mirror and I think I look great."

Case in point: Damon hadn't realized he'd earlier put on a bit of weight — "Not for this movie, it was just in my life," he said with a shrug — and suddenly found none of his suits fit. The only explanation seemed to be that his frequent co-star/ infamous practical jokester had played a prank on him, not that he'd taken down three too many Big Macs.

"I was like, 'What's going on?' I took another suit out and it didn't fit either," Damon said. "Honestly, what I thought was that somehow [George] Clooney had gotten in and paid somebody to slightly hem [the suits]. My wife said to me, 'Could it be that maybe you've put on some weight?' I'm like, 'That's absurd! I look fantastic!' "

More photos from the premiere and after-party are still loading at the photo agencies.

Seen at the premiere: Matt's dad Kent and Lucy's mother in the background of photos. Diane Sawyer said during the GMA interview that Matt's brother Kyle was at the GMA studios.

    Re: Premiere

There's a good video from ET at the premiere. Matt talks about knowing Patrick Swayze as he was a friend of Billy Bob Thornton. There's also some footage of Lucy in the background when Matt's being interviewed.

Lucy looked really beautiful at the premiere - I love her look here:

Matt and Steven will be on NPR's Fresh Air program today.

    Lead in new Eastwood film

Matt hinted at it in the NPR interview, but he's working with Clint Eastwood again.

As always, Donna Freydkin at USA Today has the best and most personal interview of the whole press campaign. And she breaks news that Matt will be the lead in Eastwood's new movie, Hereafter.

Eastwood acquired the project late last year, and it's a supernatural thriller 'in the vein of Sixth Sense' for Dreamworks. Written by Peter Morgan. New genre for both Eastwood and Matt.

I never thought I would hear Matt Damon say he was thinking of moving to LA. I'm really shocked and , I think, disappointed. I really thought they were set in Miami with Alexia's dad living there and Lucy's mother and sisters.

Matt Damon has just never seemed "Hollywood" to me. That's one reason I like him so much.
