Filming continues in New York
  • Matt was back in New York filming over the weekend following his trip to Boston for a family emergency. Photos from Sunday are at WENN and I need my fix. The Boston Globe was unable to provide an update on the situation in Saturday's paper:

    Damon's people tight-lipped on 'emergency'
Matt Damon's publicist had nothing more to say yesterday about the family matter that prompted the actor to skip Thursday night's OneXOne fund-raiser in San Francisco. E! News first reported that Damon skipped the charity event to be in Boston. His rep reiterated yesterday it is a "family emergency of a serious nature," declining to say more. Damon and wife, Luciana, have two children together, Gia and Isabella, and Luciana's daughter, Alexia, from a previous relationship.

  • More photos of Matt walking with his family in Boston last Thursday are at The Fab Life and Fotoglif.

  • Reports on the OneXOne event in San Francisco are at Show the love and PopSugar here and here.

Jeremy Piven on the Entourage skit:
That was actually Matt's idea and it's really, really genius. It takes a high level of difficulty to pull that off because it obviously has to look real. He's just the sweetest guy and then to play himself as such an asshole was really, really funny and caught your attention.

Piven on Matt's appearance on Entourage:
"It was amazing. Matt really gets it. He made it so funny. He played just this really weird, twisted, evil version of himself. His heart was in the right place, but his methods of going about things were really really wrong. And in that way I think he's a comedic genius."

Charlize Theron on bringing Matt Damon's organization and her charity together for the gala:
"We reached out to ONEXONE seeing if they wanted to help us out. We have massive issues with fresh water sources in the area we work with in our schools. The next step for us was to build soccer fields. We have the World Cup next year so it just felt right, but there was something wrong about building soccer fields and knowing that a lot of these kids don't have access to running water. Somebody told me about what Matt does, his work with ONEXONE and I was blown away. So I reached out and he was like we would love to be involved."

Jeremy Piven on being picking up the slack while Matt is away for the night:
"I'm absolutely ready! Whatever it takes. That's what's fun about us all being in this together for ONEXONE. We have each others backs which is really, really great. When Matt appeared on Entourage it was basically a 40-minute infomercial for ONEXONE, and I was honored to even be a small part of this event tonight."

  • Winona Ryder has spoken probably for the first time about Matt since their break-up in 2000 - from Hollywood.com:

"Matt couldn't be a greater, nicer guy. I'm really lucky that I'm on good terms with him. With Johnny, it's like we're good, but we lead very different lives." Winona Ryder on ex loves Matt Damon and Johnny Depp.

Poor guy, I don't know what's going on, but he's obviously still stressed. My heart really goes out to him.

I've never seen him like this.
Matt and his family are in my thoughts.
I agree about the 'spark' being gone, he also looks so much older.
I really hope things are going to be alright, and am afraid that this is about his mother since they havent named her in the press.

    The weirdest thing

I went to boxofficemojo.com to check the numbers for the Informant and there are no weekend numbers at all. I found that very strange.

    Re: The weirdest thing

I also thought it strange. They can't have just removed it from screens so it may be an oversight.

    New film project

Matt's in talks to join Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges' in the Coen Brothers' remake of True Grit:

The project would start filming in March (just after Matt films Hereafter).

    Re: New film project

I don't think there's gonna be a Bourne movie anytime soon. True Grit ewww. Didn't like the first one.

    Re: New film project

But it's a Coen Brothers movie and working with a friend in Josh Brolin. Nice.

    Re: New film project

To tell the truth, I'm more excited about True Grit than any possible Bourne film. I am NOT a fan of John Wayne, but the cast being gathered by the Coens (Damon, Bridges, Brolin) plus Spielberg as a producer make TG a must-see for me.

    Re: New film project

Spielberg is a producer on Hereafter also. I was more interested in Scott Rudin being a producer on the film (horrible to work with, by all accounts, but he makes great movies, and Matt's never worked with him before).

And Matt does a Paramount film for the first time since Ripley (co-production) or School Ties?

They're claiming the new version of True Grit will be more like the original book and not the John Wayne film (which I will watch tonight).

Bourne's not going to happen for a few years, but it is about time for Frank Marshall and Paul Greengrass to visit with Matt (Frank's Twitter has been silent on the subject).
