    Congrats to Matt and Lucy.

Sept seems like a crappy date. I'm over Universal. I just checked and the 17th is the same date that "the town" Ben's new movie comes out also.

I thought it would be coming out around the same time. At least this allows Universal time to re-shoot the ending, premiere the film at Toronto, and build some momentum.

Roger Friedman has a new article claiming that re-shoots are required, and the cast couldn't get together until the last week of June.

Versus some scurrilous rumor-mongering at Movieline:

The reviews seemed fine, except for the ending.

    Yes, congrats to the Damons.

And releasing it on the same day as Ben's movie just looks like a cheesy shot for cheap (and unuseful) publicity. Universal is ... (rolls eyes)...

    NY sightings 28 April

People has a photo of Matt walking in NY on Wednesday:

Newspusher has video (which can't be accessed by the public) with the following captions:
EXCLUSIVE: Matt Damon asked about being a new dad says "I'm used to it by now" in NYC
EXCLUSIVE: Matt Damon tries to be incognito as he is congratulated about 3rd baby news

    And a sighting at OMGICU:

"Matt Damon with his wife and two youngest daughters at 84th and Amsterdam. So cute!"

I am starting to wonder if Matt and his family are going to be left alone in NYC to the extent he has said they are (he's said things like, "No one bothers us", that no one cares about getting his picture very often, and such.) It does seem like "regular" people don't bother him, but it seems like there are quite a lot of photographs or video if he goes somewhere public in NYC, especially with his children.

It's not to the extent of the LA-based Affleck and Garner getting pictures taken of their kids almost every day, but still enough to be annoying for someone who really wants to keep their family under wraps. So I am wondering if the paparazzi are going to be a factor if Matt and Lucy do end up buying an apartment and have the children go to school there, and if they try to establish a daily routine in NYC. Being in NYC a lot makes it easier for the photographers to follow them (even if Matt doesn't want them to.)

Celebrity child pictures are sadly still a big deal right now, and even in NYC celebs not half as famous as Matt are snapped regularly walking down the streets with their kids for different baby blogs so the blogs have material to post. So I don't know if he can expect it to be any different for him. Even if he doesn't draw attention to himself, he draws attention because he's Matt Damon.

I just wonder if he'll get fed up with it and move back to Miami...I wouldn't blame him if he did. He'd still have to deal with photographers sometimes, but not nearly as many as in NYC.

He does have a daily routine in NY, and has had for months, and has been left alone to date. Because he's not in central Manhattan he's not being followed, but once they work out his routine, they would follow him for a while.

Matt's currently taking the kids to school, going to the same playgrounds each day etc. And the locals know, but the paparazzi don't (or don't care).

The paparazzi were informed he was coming by Lion King management (as the cast were informed beforehand he was coming).

Oh, I didn't know the photographers knew he was going to the Lion King. Thank you for that information! I watched the video and photo links you posted and Matt did not look very happy at all when he was entering the theater with his group. He seemed to be trying to hide Isabella's face and separating himself from the other people in the group. Do you think he expected photographers to be at that event?

I don't know that he's been left alone, per se, since he's been in NYC. The real estate blogs in NYC have tracked his apartment-buying search quite closely (real estate is a true obsession in that city!), and sightings of him are often in the New York Post and Daily News, as is his real estate search. But you're right, those aren't photos, they are just written mentions of where he is.

I do think that once the new baby comes, he will be followed for a while - Will it be so much that it is annoying is the question. It will also be interesting to see that since now they have announced the pregnancy, if candid pictures of Matt and Luciana will be in more demand from the baby blogs until the baby is born.

It certainly wasn't public informaton that Matt was attending the Lion King show outside of the organisers of the show. He wouldn't have known there would be photographers and he looked pretty upset.

New York press have tracked the housing news in detail, which would also make Matt upset - the last thing he wants is for his home to become public knowledge and for paparazzi to camp outside. His movements have been able to be secure where he's currently staying because there's a private driveway/courtyard and the photographers can't watch the entrance and get photos (like his old apartment).

There's always increased interest in a celebrity mother once a baby is announced. BTW, I don't believe Matt announced the baby news (as has been reported) - US magazine clearly had a tip and ran with the story, which was confirmed by Matt's rep. If Matt had released the story, it would have gone to People.

Yep. See, all of that is why I originally said I think he might get irritated with all the coverage and reconsider the move to NYC if this doesn't die down. I DON'T think he's being left alone. IMO the media isn't leaving him alone the way perhaps the way they did the last time he lived in NYC for an extensive period of time. Back then, he seemed to be able to move around pretty freely. Maybe that's what he was expecting, but the media has been covering him fairly extensively since last fall, at least in NYC.

I will say as far as where he lives in NYC, there's no way he will be able to keep from public knowledge when he does buy the apartment. As I mentioned, real estate is an obsession there - for example, there's an article about Sting's apartment being sold today in the NY Times. Details are routinely printed in NYC media when and where someone wealthy buys a home, and that includes the mayor and the famous athletes. I think it's crazy, but that's the way they do it there because everybody wants to know how much the celebrity paid for the home, the location, and how big it is. According to the real estate blogs, Matt decided against buying a townhouse (even though Lucy saw one she loved) because an apartment will be more private. But yes, unless they find one that has a courtyard, there will be photographers that can find them when they want to.

    Bourne 4 rumor

In what is either the dumbest or most prophetic rumor of all time, here's a Bourne 4 story from gossip mailout Holy Moly (who were also wrong about a Bourne 3 story and a previous Bourne 4 story):

Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon are deep in pre-production for the fourth Bourne film – and one rumour from the team is that the film includes a car chase sequence set in a New York multi-storey car park costing $7million dollars. Wow.
