Save the Children, various
  • A photo of Matt and Lucy with Save the Children President and CEO Charles McCormack from the Greenwich event is here. More photos from the event are at Socialite Life.

  • A video from the event is at Access Hollywood, including Meredith Viera talking about Matt (transcript below):

    Meredith Viera
I think he is one of the good guys, I really do. Obviously he’s a phenomenal movie star, but that doesn’t define him. He is ordinary in every good sense of the word. He is just a decent man, I think he cares so much about the world around him and the people around him, and making this a better place. And he’s a good family man. I was just talking to him and he’s got a fourth baby on the way and when he talked about his children it was very moving and I think he feels that way about the children of the world. I think that’s very genuine.

  • A partial transcript of Alec Baldwin talking about Matt from the NBC video (linked yesterday) is below:

    Alec Baldwin
I worked with Matt. I did Good Shepherd, which Robert DeNiro directed. I admire Matt and I love Matt and he’s one of the great gentlemen in the business. He’s a doll, he’s a wonderful actor, he’s a super-smart guy and he makes… he covers both sides of the aisle film-making-wise. He does really clever… I loved the Informant, I thought he and Soderbergh made a fun movie.

  • A brief interview was at People.

With three kids and another on the way, Matt Damon's household is about to get even busier.

"We're bracing ourselves for our next little tornado," Damon told PEOPLE at Thursday night's Save the Children's Celebration of Hope fundraiser in Greenwich, Conn., where he was honored for his work with the organization.

"We're excited," said the actor, 39. "But it is a lot of work."

Responding to reports this week that he'll return to the NBC comedy next season, Damon told PEOPLE: "If they'll have me, I would love to pop in and see the gang again. I had a great time doing it. I've worked with Alec Baldwin before, and I am a big Tina Fey fan."

    photos in socialite life

Wow, those close-up photos from SL are adorable. I wasn't sure about Matt's long hair until now. Yes, a double helping of THAT, thank you.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

As much as I love Matt as an actor, he's totally wrong for this role. Of course I don't know if he is in the running for the part. The male protagonist is based on loosely on the book's author. Matt's too young and too attractive. I would prefer someone like David Strathairn, or even Steve Buscemi would be good I think. Brad Pitt (even with the hideous beard and the weight gain) isn't a good enough actor to pull it off I think.

The books are very European in flavour, discussing power, religious intolerance, self harming, sexual abuse and misogny; as well as a crackingly good whodunnit, so I think Hollywood will make a real mess of it. As someone previously said I see no need for a remake, the Swedish version is really, really good. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

That's how I see it anyway. What do you think? Marcia

    Adjustment Bureau in Australia

Richard Wilkins on the Today show says The Adjustment Bureau will be out 21 October in Australia.

At this link (if it works outside Australia) there's a good collection of interviews, career retrospective videos etc.

    Re: Adjustment Bureau in Australia

Thanks for the update of when The Adjustment Bureau will be released in Australia although I'm disappointed to have to wait even longer now!
Does anyone know how I can watch the 30 Rock episode with Matt or the Cinematique Award show, as I live in Australia?

    Re: Adjustment Bureau in Australia

I don't want to promote any of the download sites as I don't know which ones are safer or semi-legal, but they are available (and I watched it that way).

The Cinematheque show should be available the same way, with some clips on YouTube. There really hasn't been much promotion for it to date (that I've read about).

    Re: Adjustment Bureau in Australia

Me again. I somehow missed your comments on your previous update about Matt being considered for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Thanks for your response, and I totally agree.

I blame my fuddled post on an unnaturally early sighting of the sun. Two days of heat and unbroken sunshine have clearly gone to my head ;) Marcia

    Re: Adjustment Bureau in Australia

And we've got rain here for the first time in weeks, which is great.

I think Matt's wrong for Dragon Tattoo, and that's fine. Brad Pitt's also wrong.
