Matt Damon News Column
  • Matt and Ben may be part of a NBA Finals bet with the LA and Boston mayors - from the Daily News:

The star power of Los Angeles and Boston is at stake in a friendly wager between the cities' mayors over the outcome of the Lakers-Celtics championship series.

If Boston repeats its 2008 victory over Los Angeles, the Lakers' best-known fan – Oscar-winning actor Jack Nicholson – would be asked to don green and appear in a commercial extolling the highlights of Beantown.

And if the Lakers capture their 11th championship in L.A., Boston natives Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would be asked to make their own commercial about the highlights of Southern California.

  • From an interview with Joel McHale at the Boston Globe:

While he isn’t wearing green, McHale’s a big fan of Matt Damon, with whom he worked on Stephen Soderbergh’s "The Informant!" "It is no coincidence that Matt Damon is a movie star because he has everything you need to be a great movie star," said McHale. "He's good looking, he’s incredibly smart, he’s incredibly talented and funny, and he just has that streetwise thing that you need to be able to maintain a career like he has."

  • Matt and Lucy attended the Broadway show Red on Friday. The play stars Alfred Molina and The Good Shephered actor Eddie Redmayne.

Bubbles2828: The celebs keep coming. Neil Patrick Harris, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and Matt Damon at RED on Bway last night.

  • Lucy attended a photography exhibition by Zoe Buckman in NY with friends on Tuesday. A few photos are at Rex and Getty, including Lucy with Buckman and fellow guest John Krasinski.

They've stolen that link from the jen-fans.com official site (I've linked to the correct clip previously).

    Adjustment Bureau re-shoots

The planned re-shoots for The Adjustment Bureau are apparently taking place today (Tuesday) in NY.

Anthony Mackie's play only finished on Sunday (and Matt finished True Grit last Wednesday).

I guess Matt won't be in Boston for the playoffs.

Update: Matt filmed at the top of Rockefeller Plaza and at other locations around Manhattan on Tuesday, with other locations planned until Thursday (at least).

Warning - do not access the On Locations Vacations (OLV) site to get updates of filming locations. I looked at the site today and got a computer virus which has crippled my computer (and can't currently be fixed).

Hi!I know that what I asking you is ancient history and maybe just gossip, but I found these site "whosdatewho"(it's about Hollywood couples),and was a kind of confuse to me 'cause I always thought that Matt and Penelope(Cruz)were just friends&co-stars, and also, Was He dating Eva Mendez in 2003/04? I thought he was with Lucy by that time. But then again, maybe that site it's just full of crap.

Matt and Penelope and Matt and Eva never dated. But there were lots of (false) rumors.

Matt and Lucy were good friends with Eva, but the press never recognised Lucy, so when they were out together the press only picked up on Matt and Eva being together (eg New Year's Eve in Las Vegas).

There have been no sightings of Matt, Lucy and Eva out together in recent years (and Eva didn't attend the Cinematheque Award event). But only one of Matt's actress co-stars attended - Charlize Theron.

    Frank Marshall just tweeted this...'

Fantastic news today! Tony Gilroy, the keeper of the Bourne flame, is back with us to write the treatment for #4, THE BOURNE LEGACY...

I know Matt said he wouldn't do it without Paul, but maybe Gilroy coming back will bring them both back.

Love one of the comments at Deadline that for the last film Gilroy got $1.5 and a commitment that he wouldn't have to speak to Greengrass.

It's a comedown for Gilroy to be involved again after he expressed such distaste at being part of the last film, where his script was basically ignored.

Gilroy doesn't want to be there, and neither does Matt or Paul. Despite the comments at Deadline and other sites, I don't think Paul or Matt will be back. And Matt will have more loyalty to George Nolfi, who wrote a previous version of the script, than Gilroy. Wonder if it all depends on whether The Adjustment Bureau works.

If it was any other actor I would say with a good script and a lot of money they would totally be back, but Matt does things his own way (it's one of the things about him I love). Matt doesnt want to be a movie star. It has been said many times that Matt is a character actor who became a moviestar because of Bourne and I get the felling he would be more than happy to just be Matt Damon-actor, not Matt Damon-moviestar. My only worry is without Matt the quality of the Bourne movies goes down. I just feel like they will cast some young crappy actor and it will stain the Bourne movies. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I think you are right that I might depend on how Adjustment Bureau works out. I have heard from many people that the production was a disaster and it wasnt a very happy set, but that doesnt always mean a bad movie.

Agreed - TAB could still be a good movie, and that may depend on the current reshoots.

Here's The Playlist on some of the problems between Gilroy/Matt and Gilroy/Greengrass:

I don't think Matt would have any desire to get involved in another Bourne movie. Long and difficult shoot, away from NY, strong likelihood to diminish the franchise, and he probably doesn't want to get involved with Gilroy (if he's being set up as the likely director). I don't think he would care about the money, or if the other films he's making aren't bankable.
