Love one of the comments at Deadline that for the last film Gilroy got $1.5 and a commitment that he wouldn't have to speak to Greengrass.

It's a comedown for Gilroy to be involved again after he expressed such distaste at being part of the last film, where his script was basically ignored.

Gilroy doesn't want to be there, and neither does Matt or Paul. Despite the comments at Deadline and other sites, I don't think Paul or Matt will be back. And Matt will have more loyalty to George Nolfi, who wrote a previous version of the script, than Gilroy. Wonder if it all depends on whether The Adjustment Bureau works.

If it was any other actor I would say with a good script and a lot of money they would totally be back, but Matt does things his own way (it's one of the things about him I love). Matt doesnt want to be a movie star. It has been said many times that Matt is a character actor who became a moviestar because of Bourne and I get the felling he would be more than happy to just be Matt Damon-actor, not Matt Damon-moviestar. My only worry is without Matt the quality of the Bourne movies goes down. I just feel like they will cast some young crappy actor and it will stain the Bourne movies. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I think you are right that I might depend on how Adjustment Bureau works out. I have heard from many people that the production was a disaster and it wasnt a very happy set, but that doesnt always mean a bad movie.

Agreed - TAB could still be a good movie, and that may depend on the current reshoots.

Here's The Playlist on some of the problems between Gilroy/Matt and Gilroy/Greengrass:

I don't think Matt would have any desire to get involved in another Bourne movie. Long and difficult shoot, away from NY, strong likelihood to diminish the franchise, and he probably doesn't want to get involved with Gilroy (if he's being set up as the likely director). I don't think he would care about the money, or if the other films he's making aren't bankable.
