Ante up for Africa tournament
  • Matt attended the Ante up for Africa charity poker tournament in Las Vegas on Saturday. Matt said Ben Affleck was due to attend but had a migraine and did not participate, although he was in Las Vegas. Photos are at I need my fix and WENN. In the live blog at pokernews.com Matt said he is on a break after making three movies in a row, and is about to take a family vacation in Hawaii. Videos from the event, which are mostly about a potential sequel to Rounders, are at Poker News Daily and Raw Vegas, with more at YouTube.

  • Doug Liman claims Green Zone was a Bourne Identity rip-off. He's also talked recently about Bourne 4.

    Other things

In the press line Matt said he had caught an early flight from Miami that morning and had been up for 12 hours already.

And Matt was quoting from 'The Princess Bride' during the tournament (as seen in the blog).

    People interview

A brief family-related interview is at People:

If Matt Damon wants to find out anything about his wife's pregnancy he just needs to ask their kids.

"They track its progress in mommy's belly," he said Saturday while attending the Ante Up for Africa charity poker event in Las Vegas.

The kids "are very excited" about another addition to the family, Damon, 39, said.

But being a family man and major motion picture star isn't easy for the former Sexiest Man Alive. Damon credits "a great wife" for helping him juggle his responsibilities.

"She really keeps it together," he said at the poker event at the Rio All Suites Hotel, hosted by Oceans 11 pal Don Cheadle. "We just talk it out and work it all out. You say, this is the job and this is the time commitment and this is where it will be. I’m a lot easier to hire if you’re doing movies in New York."

As much as they told us it wasn't. The extras on the DVD are great, and show how much Matt and Paul really cared about getting the smallest details right. But people just don't care about those things (although the small minority in the know would care).

Matt really worked hard on the role, including screaming himself hoarse in his trailer each day to get a better sound in his voice. But where does all of that effort go if it's lost in the story (or absence of a story people want to hear)?
