Matt Damon News Column
Emmy, Elysium
  • Matt received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on 30 Rock.

  • Actors Diego Luna and Christian Vazquez talked about their roles in Elysium in separate articles.

  • An interview with Matt about why he is involved in narrating an episode of the upcoming PBS series titled Women, War and Peace is available at the official PBS site. The series starts airing on 11 October.

  • Wilfred co-star Fiona Gubelmann wants Matt to guest star on the show:

With so many amazing guest stars, who have been some of your favorites?
GUBELMANN: First of all, we have to have Matt Damon on the show. I am a huge fan of his, and I have told the writers and producers if they want to bring Matt Damon on as a love interest for Jenna, I am totally willing to take one for the team and do it. I’m just a huge fan of his and it would be incredible to have him on the show. I’ve enjoyed watching him on 30 Rock this past year, so I definitely think Matt Damon on Wilfred is a must."

  • Matt is still scheduled to attend the Save our Schools March in Washington on 30 July.

Leaders have also announced that the actor Matt Damon will take a red-eye flight from a film set in Vancouver in order to attend the march, before heading back west the same day.

    People magazine

There's a new little article on People that's not very important, it just came up because Matt mentioned Brad and Angelina (and compared them to prisoners because of the harassment/attention they get from the media).

It's so annoying/unbelievable though - the article says that Matt and Lucy married in March 2003...they definitely married in Dec. 2005, right?? It is so irritating to me when the professional press can't do basic fact-checking before publishing articles, even about trivial things :/

    Re: People magazine

I feel the same way as you. In these kinds of articles these mistakes happen all the time! It really makes me doubt about the veracity of the information given. But what can you do? :(

    Re: People magazine

And the interview itself (to the German magazine) was from February and the quotes aren't even new. That's annoying.

Edit - People even called it a TV interview from last weekend. Epic fail (and where did they get that marriage date from - they hadn't even met in March 2003).

    Re: People magazine

Epic fail is right! And People magazine is supposed to be (or at least presents itself as if it is) a credible publication. Makes me hope that most journalists are more ethical and interested in accuracy...G

    Re: People magazine

I'm trying to either write to People or comment on the site to correct the errors and can't do either at the moment. Please feel free to alert them.

    Re: People magazine

I e-mailed them, because I thought that would be better than my comment getting lost among all the others...Hopefully they'll revise it. It just bothers me when people are paid to present false information as fact and aren't even held accountable for it (and I might have too much time on my hands ;)

    Re: People magazine

And it's worse because People is trusted as a reliable source and the information is relied upon when media pick up the story (the Boston Globe is reporting incorrect information).

    Thanks for sending the email.

    Cameron Crowe

The People story with all its inaccuracies is expanding, but meanwhile...

Cameron Crowe talks about We Bought A Zoo on his blog:
