Videos, Margaret update
  • The full clip of the Reason.tv interview, where filming continued after Matt's comment to the cameraman, is at YouTube and is worth watching - the reporter claims she is as informed as Matt's professor mother. The photo below is from the Washington Post.

  • Other good videos discussing Matt's comments are at MSNBC and Anderson Cooper 360. A new video with Matt criticising current education policies is available here. Matt's mother wrote to the Boston Globe criticising the paper's superficial coverage of the rally.

  • Matt has a small role in Margaret, which will finally receive a limited release on 30 September 2011. More details are at the LA Times.

    Re: Debate continues

It seems that the exchange between them is still not finished. Maybe we'll get even more video in the coming days.

    Re: Debate continues

Sorry, accidentally deleted all my comments on this post.

The original link was to a Hollywood Reporter article, describing Matt as the poster boy under attack by conservative media:

A new interview was supposed to air on Friday on CNN, but it seems to have been pushed again.

    Re: Article

From a foreign perspective,Matt has shown more integrity (and cojones) that many political leaders of his country. I was pleased to see that many people thanked him. But the reaction from the right (as hateful as ever) will not cause harm to his career?

    Re: Article

In the short term, I think there will be some blowback. But it's the usual haters, so we'll have to see. The upcoming Contagion junket may be more provocative than normal.

    Re: Contagion

I imagine he'll be attending in Venice? It doesn't seem like he's working everyday on Elysium or if he does it's not an all day thing(based on some twitter postings)but then again it has to be quite sizable since he's in Vancouver for the summer.

    Re: Contagion

Agreed - we should compare sources. He really doesn't seem to be working much at all (maybe they're hiding how small his role is?)

Diego Luna has gone from Vancouver from the moment, but may be back. The locations for some Elysium shoots are known for next week, so we may get some photos.

    Elysium filming into 2012?

Update - Diego Luna is a long way from finished (and says he could be filming into next year)

    Translated from:

"I can not speak much about the movie, but I can assure you I am only here for a few days since I have to go back to Vancouver for the film, where I'll be working until the end of the year, and perhaps even the next."

    Re: Contagion

Yeah, I don't get the lack of chat and push for Contagion - with this cast? Bizarre. Maybe they're trying to leave space for pushing Soderbergh's 'girl fighter' movie? Sometimes it seems Soderbergh just gets bored easily and doesn't want to talk about what he's already done.

I don't like the idea that if Contagion fails Matt's political stance may get the blame (at least from the right). It actually seems amazing to me that in spite of numerous attempts of prominent people on the wing to attack him the public response against him has been quite muted. It seems to me that any intelligent person would have to respect Matt, even if they disagree with him.

Do you have any idea if the 'Margaret' cut is Scorcese's version, or how long it is? I read the script and it was awesome, but enormous. It read like a novel. Really hope to have a chance to see the long version one day.

    Re: Contagion

No idea which cut of Margaret will be released. Will be amazing if there's a coherent final cut available.

I feel reason plays no argument in the current political debates.

Soderbergh's girl fighter movie's not released until January, but it has received a bigger push. Maybe the Contagion press starts soon (currently it's all about self-promoting Gwyneth).

Two stories about education on CNN this morning, one of which was an interview with Nancy and former ed secretary Bill Bennett (conservative). If nothing comes on line I can send some quotes later but I'll be out of pocket for most of today.

Thanks Paula. Here it is - Nancy called in to the interview via Skype:
