Contagion, Elysium

  • A press junket for Contagion ahead of the Venice Film Festival will be held in LA this weekend. Part of the press notes for the film are available at Starometer, including:

What makes “Contagion” so frightening on both an intellectual and a visceral level is that, while fictional, it is grounded in real science and real possibilities.

“Steven’s movies don’t leave any fat on the bone. They’re lean and fast.” That’s how Matt Damon describes the films of Steven Soderbergh whose latest project, Warner Bros.’ global thriller “Contagion” stars Damon, along with Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.

“For a subject like this, that pace mirrors the progression of the infection itself and how things spiral very quickly out of control, so you want that sense of acceleration,” adds Damon. “Steven knows exactly how to keep multiple threads alive and cut back to each one at the right time. The story really moves.”

  • A new actor for Elysium, Sofia Sisniega, discusses the secrecy around her role in this translated Mexican article:

Sisniega will return to Mexico to film Elysium, a sci-fi movie that will star Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Alice Braga.

"I'm happy but I'll only be a small part in this movie. I can not talk much about it as a matter of contract with the director, but it looks like it will be a good project. This is a story that mixes the futuristic with science fiction. I still do not know if I will have any scenes with Diego Luna."
