Haiti visit
  • Matt visited Haiti with Gary White to review a water.org project and meet with local charity workers. Matt also met with Haitian Prime Minister Gary Conville. Reports and photos from Informador, Cubasi, HPN Haiti.com, Demotix, Le Matin Haiti and Safimag's Facebook page.

The Hollywood actor Matt Damon who was in Haiti, has left the country on Friday. He had come as part of a project to supply drinking water to communities. Matt Damon will be working with the Haitian business "Haytian Tractor", which is to bring drinking water available cheaply. This project has been launched in the town of Pignon (North).

Less than two percent of the 10 million inhabitants of this Caribbean nation have access to drinking water, while most of the population uses rivers and streams for drinking, washing or bathing.

  • Gus Van Sant will now direct the project co-written by Matt and John Krasinski. Matt is expected to act in the film, which may now be shot in the Portland area in April - details at The Playlist.

Following an evening at La Esquina and Bunker Club on Saturday with friends, a NY Post sighting:

Matt Damon dropping into the new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf store on Amsterdam and 86th. We’re told the cashier — who apparently didn’t recognize him — asked for his full name for his order of a vanilla latte, which he politely supplied, prompting giggles from others on line.

    Matt's hair is back!!

    Matt's hair is back!! ☺ ☺ ☺

I also thought about his father's illness when Matt abandoned the project to direct the movie. I hope everything is OK.

If 'Zoo' continues this way, is likely to do as much as the $75 M 'Contagion' did,or maybe more. Which is good considering that the movie made only $ 9 million in its weekend debut.

    Re: zoo

I had the same thought about Matt's dad. Hopefully that's not it. It seems significant to me that Zoo made as much as War Horse this weekend. They're still pushing WH but I haven't seen an ad for Zoo in a week.

    Re: zoo

Matt's father seemed fine at the Zoo premiere in December. Maybe it's as mundane as finding a permanent home in NY.

Has anyone seen the whole article in Vanity Fair yet?

    Re: zoo

That's what i was thinking. Maybe it was just going to take up too much time away from family.

Haven't seen the vanity fair mag yet.
