London visit, Soderbergh
  • Photos of Matt and Lucy at Lisa Snowdon's birthday party in London on Saturday are at the Daily Mail, Rex and Zimbio. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky also attended the party.

  • This Steven Soderbergh interview at The Playlist includes a few references to Matt, including Matt's comments about one set-up envisaged by Neill Blomkamp for Elysium.

Soderbergh: I can't imagine doing another one, another action movie, because I feel like this represents how I'd like to do it, and to do it again, I don't know what else I would bring to it. It's probably just because my brain doesn't work this way. Matt [Damon] was describing a rig that Neill Blomkamp built for some of the fight stuff in "Elysium" that sounded really cool. When he described it to me I thought, god that's a great idea. I bet that's going to be really neat. Now I don't want to steal that because it's something Neil thought of and built, this proprietary rig with these multiple cameras on it. I feel like unless I could think of something like that, I don't know what I would do if somebody said would you like to do another action film.

  • Another unnecessary comment from Mark Wahlberg at the Boston Herald:

“People made a big uproar about the Whitey Bulger thing. I didn’t say I would make a movie about Whitey Bulger and glorify what he did,” the Dorchester homey said. “The Matt Damons and Ben Afflecks of the world came out and said they were going to make a movie and nobody even made mention of it. I didn’t even say I wanted to do a movie. I was just saying that a third party had reached out to me.”

  • From an interview with Benjamin Mee at The Guardian:

Mee and his children met Damon in America last year and the actor patiently recorded a special message on Milo's Nintendo. "He also happily put on the Dartmoor Zoo T-shirt for a photograph, even though there was someone actually saying in his ear that he shouldn't do it," recalls Mee.

"He was very interested in talking to me about the effect of the death on our family. In fact, in December, when I was interviewed with him on a primetime show at the time of the American premiere, he talked so thoughtfully about what it would mean to bring up children on your own that I was not in the right frame of mind to do my own interview really. He hit it all right on the head."

  • Ben Lyons posted a quote from Sean Penn on his tumblr:

When asked about reprising roles, Sean said “It’s not for me, but I could watch Matt Damon play that Bourne guy over & over again.” #sundance2012

    Annie Leibovitz

Is Leibovitz saying the cover was a composite (as suspected)?

You photographed this month for "Vanity Fair" George Clooney, Matt Damon and Daniel Craig. How were there are no fights for ego?

At this level, they are professionals who want the same thing as me, that is to say a good image. When they sit before the camera, the stars have already agreed to the magazine. Daniel Craig is a charismatic and courteous. For Clooney and Damon, who are friends in life and have worked together, I'm a bit inspired by "Butch Cassidy" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. This coverage is a kind of composite. In the digital age, I collected on the same image three players who were each in one of the world.

    Murky mark

He cannot help himself - the proverbial foot in mouth is always stuck there. If you do not have something intelligent to say to the press, shut up.

    Wahlberg, Matt in UK

Wahlberg should eliminate the middle men and have the word "jackass" tattooed right across his forhead. (feel free to delete this)

Any further word on what Matt is doing in the UK?

    Matt in London

Lucy's dress is gorgeous. she looks so amazing, has she really had four kids? So glad Matt is growing his hair back, I hated the bald look.

Am actually starting to feel sorry for Mark Wahlberg, I'd be embarrassed to be that stupid. Thanks for the lovely pics. They do look happy together. Marcia

    Re: Matt in London

Lucy looked great. People's website has messed up their photos and I can't access the Matt and Lucy one (probably from the party).

No legit sightings of Matt since the party, in London or elsewhere.

The best recent quote from Mark Wahlberg was his supposed apology for the 9/11 comments - he claimed he was a guy from the streets and not an actor so his comment was OK.

This is the link from people and yes it is from the party. Don't know if you'll be able to see but it's nothing new.

I was going to refrain from saying anything on mark but somebody needs to stuff a sock in his mouth quick. And his comments that he's made over the years of Matt (and Ben) have always come across as jealousy in my opinion.

    Re: Matt in London

Thanks for the link, it worked. This is the photo, posted at a tumblr: http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2012/startracks/120206/matt-damon-435.jpg

Matt and Mark are not friends, and never have been (in my opinion). In a recent Piers Morgan interview Piers was saying good things about Matt and wanting Mark to comment, but Mark was trying to say as little as possible.

Any bets on Matt going to the Superbowl?

    Vanity fair

Here's a link to matt's entire q&a from the mag. Includes george and Daniel's too. (feel free to edit to just show matt's; I was having trouble.) I know there was a recap already but they were still a couple of questions that I hadn't seen.

    Re: Vanity fair

Thanks very much for the link. I thought Matt's answers to the quality he likes in men/women/friends to be interesting, especially when compared with George's answers. I would have liked the questions answered by all three to the same, as that would have been more logical and easier to compare.

    Back in NY

Various sightings of Matt in NY today (and he appears to have been back for a few days). The trip to London may have been just for Lisa's birthday.

    Pre-party story

Lisa Snowdon and radio co-presenter Dave Berry have a true or false game with two stories about Matt from the party/pre-party.

It's the first story on the radio program's daily highlights:
