Promised Land details
  • John Krasinski discussed the themes and production of Promised Land at the Post-Gazette, including:

As for how he juggled his triple play of screenwriter, producer and actor, Mr. Krasinski quipped, "With a whole lot of prayer. It's terrifying and exciting at the same time and in a lot of ways, I wouldn't want it any other way.

"I think to be surrounded by such an incredible group of people, from Matt and Gus and Fran and all these great actors like Hal and Rosemarie, but also this crew. The people that we had on our crew were just outstanding. The vibe was incredibly mellow.

As for when "Promised Land" will be released, the actor said possibly as early as the end of the year in a small number of theaters, for starters. Mr. Van Sant, who did a bare-bones assembly during filming, is editing the movie and will huddle with his fellow producers and others at summer's end and tweak the movie through the fall.

"I don't think I've ever been as proud of something that I've been a part of more than this," he said. "I haven't really been invested in something like this.

"To have it be your words and your ideas and having all these people say it, shoot it, light it, all these different things, to have these people come together for something that you did is incredibly moving. I think that the responsibility was overwhelming at times and also I was full of pride, but I was also terrified and hoping that I had done something right to bring all these great people together."

  • New cast members for Behind the Candelabra include Dan Aykroyd, Debbie Reynolds, Rob Lowe, Scott Bakula and Nicky Katt.

  • A report and photos from the Massachusetts General Hospital cancer charity event that Matt attended last week are at the official site. The event raised over $1.1 million.

A particularly useless article and misleading headline:

    Re: Jackson, et al.

Ah, well, any publicity is good they say.

Speaking of publicity, I was irked when ET mentioned the movie's casting twice in the last two days and didn't mention Matt either time. And it's not the first time I've noticed them dissing Matt. Are they owned by Rupert Murdoch?

Promised Land sounds wonderful. Really looking forward to it.

And I see from a one-sided story on indiewire that Tony Gilroy has started his campaign. He may be a good writer, but as a person I have 0 respect for him.

I see I wasn't clear. By "the movie's casting" I refer to Liberace.

    Re: Jackson, et al.

I think ET has a fixation on Michael Douglas and cares more about his involvement than anything else.

A quote from Emily Blunt about Promised Land in the Observer magazine (UK):

She compares finding decent roles for women to "joining a pack of hyenas feeding on very few carcasses". Lately she's become interested in writing. Her husband of 18 months, John Krasinski - aka Jim from the US version of The Office and star of romcoms such as It's Complicated and Big Miracle - is currently writing a film with Matt Damon after she introduced them: "It really is so impressive. I'm so admiring of it. They're both from Boston so they're very funny together. It's going to be brilliant."

    Family in LA?

There was a possible sighting of Matt in LA on Thursday, and now X17 reports that in the photos linked below Jennifer Garner was bringing supplies for a birthday party for Isabella in Brentwood.

(Isabella had a party for school friends in NY last Sunday.)

No references to Matt, but a lengthy article on the history of 'Margaret'.

    where's Matt?

Since those rumors of Matt in LA he seems to have completely disappeared. There doesn't seem to be any report of the Afflecks in the last few days either. Makes me wonder if they could be vacationing together someplace. Some surfing shots would be welcome ;)

    Re: where's Matt?

Someone tweeted a supposed sighting of Matt in Nyc yesterday but it just seems unlikely. Jennifer garner was spotted the day after she was bringing party supplies to matt's and then nothing. (and she's usually spotted almost everyday).

I always find it amazing how there can be numerous sightings of Matt one day and he just falls off the radar. But that's good for him and his family.

    Re: where's Matt?

Jennifer Garner was photographed yesterday in LA (I also thought they were all in Hawaii). It is amazing how some stars can be photographed daily by the paparazzi no matter where they are, eg Hugh Jackman in NY, Spain and London within five days when he's got nothing to promote.
