More Bourne talk

From an interview with Gilroy:

A speculated-about cross-over with Bourne and Cross together, however, seems unlikely. For one thing, Gilroy and Greengrass clashed during the making of Supremacy. In fact, until he started working on Legacy, Gilroy hadn’t even seen Ultimatum. And for another, Damon generated headlines late last year when he criticized Gilroy in a magazine interview -- before then apologizing for the remarks.

“I haven’t talked to those guys in years,” Gilroy says of Damon and Greengrass.

“Paul and I had a very different way of working -- a legitimately different creative way of working. There are great films made when you shoot the hell out of it and find it later on. That’s a completely legitimate way to make a movie. It’s not how I like to work. It was a complete culture clash, so we never had much to talk about and he and Matt were bonded up, as tight as could be. It was a pretty clean (break).”

Re: More Bourne talk

Now I see Gilroy is finally being (more or less) straightforward. He fell out with Greengrass and fell out with Matt because Matt supported his director. So childish. It seems certain that as long as Gilroy is director, a return of Matt as Bourne is impossible. As if I needed another reason to be disgusted with Gilroy.

Re: More Bourne talk

Exactly what I thought when I read the comment. But there is still something that niggles:

Paul Greengrass began his career making documentaries, and he obviously uses the same method when making movies - film everything and find the story. Universal must have known this when they hired him. It seems logical to me that Gilroy would have looked at Greengrass's earlier work (including Bloody Sunday, which has the look and feel of a documentary) and surely they must have met and discussed the process for filming Supremacy.

Ultimately film is a directors medium actors must have full confidence in their director as he or she calls the shots (lterally). For Matt to feel secure and work at his best it's obvious he would side with his director, and they clearly have a good working relationship as well as a friendship.

Each time Gilroy opens his mouth he just comes across as more stupid. He wrote a script for a movie and it wasn't very good, it's not Shakespeare end of. Marcia

Olympics

(Off topic)

How are you enjoying the Olympics Marcia? The weather's always threatening, but the events and crowd support have been fantastic. We have live coverage on eight channels of every event in Australia, so I've watched a lot. And I'm enjoying Australia's poor performance and the rise of NZ, GB and Nathan Adrian.

Re: Olympics

Loving the Olympics. Coverage has been fantastic, BBC has done a great job, 24 channels showing every single sport (even some I've never heard of) and no advertising all for £143 per year! Weather so variable, sunshine and showers and back again. The atmosphere is amazing, London has really pulled it off. The city has a real buzz about it. Will miss it when it's over. Marcia
