  • Photos of Matt wearing prosthetics on the set of Behind the Candelabra in Palm Springs on Monday are at the Daily Mail, Viply and Zimbio.

  • A review of the Good Will Hunting 15th Anniversary Blu-Ray DVD is here.

  • A comment from Vulture on the future of the Bourne series:

Meanwhile, Bourne Legacy underwent a sizable fall, losing 55 percent of its audience a week after it opened to almost less than half of what the last Bourne film made. It finished second with an estimated $17 million. As one former studio chief tells Vulture, "it certainly stumbles the franchise," but that it also "gives Matt Damon quite a bit of leverage, doesn't it?"

  • A comment from the Boston Globe on Matt's weekend break:

Boston boy Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, brought their family back to New England for the weekend to celebrate the birthday of Damon’s father, Kent. The Damons were spotted at Logan Airport and then up in New Hampshire, where fans reported seeing Jason Bourne at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club.

    Cancer benefit

I was in Palm Springs for meetings so I went over to the film locations on Tuesday to see if we could see some scenes shot outside. The city Hall scene was filmed with the extras. About 2 vans full of folks dressed in 1970s costume. A fun blast from the past, including an old coroner's van, police car and other old cars filled the lot. No actual actors were at this shoot.

The church scene was filmed indoors. They brought in three to four luxury busses of 'mourners' who headed into the church through the side door. Shortly after a van brought a few actors, including Dan Akroyd. They headed into the front door. Last was Mr. Damon himself, brought to the scene in a black SUV. He was ushered out of the SUV with an umbrella behind him so we could not get any good pictures, even though we were right across the street (about 10 fans). After shooting inside, he was brought out the side door which with an umbrella again. The side door was quite far from the street where the fans were allowed to stand.

It was fun to see the filming, nonetheless, even though there were not really any good photo ops. Watching Soderburgh in action outside and around the set was worth the wait.

Thanks for the report. Nobody seemed to get any photos but all of the extra seemed to have a fun day (even though it must have been very hot).

    Another benefit?

I don't know if this is legit but I can't see Matt as a sous chef. Lol. It does say families against cancer so maybe?

    Re: Another benefit?

It certainly looks legit and there's numerous links to Boston and the MGH Cancer Center. I'll include it in the upcoming events list.

    Re: Another benefit?

I'll be looking forward to video coming out of this event. (hopefully there should be one). Matt will certainly be out of his element but for a good cause close to him.

Pic with 'Prince' Frederic van Anhalt at the filming location in LA.

All links to the photo (originally from ET) now appear to have been removed, but it's still available at Collider:

    Promised Land

Promised Land will open for an Oscar-qualifying run in LA and NY on 28 December. An appearance at a festival is also still possible:

    Re: Promised Land

Focus is having a great year. I quite enjoyed Moonrise Kingdom. This move would seem to indicate they're very positive about the film. Interesting to note that there were also a couple of negative comments from people who are part of the corporate fracking world on one of the movie sites.

    Re: Promised Land

It's going to be interesting to see if the fracking issue is a selling point which could attract commentary, or a call for some to boycott or commercially hurt the film. It will probably be a combination of both, and we'll hope the negativity doesn't hurt it.

Matt may be in the casting mix for a new film from Stephen Gaghan (if Brad drops out) - Matt hasn't even been part of the speculative casting for any movie in a while.
