Berlin photos
  • Photos of Matt in Berlin with Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman on Friday, and George Clooney and Stacy Keibler on Saturday, are at Just Jared. More photos are at the Daily Mail, DListed and PopSugar.

  • More comments from Steven Soderbergh on Behind the Candelabra are at the Hollywood Reporter.

THR: What's left to do on Behind the Candelabra?
Soderbergh: We're just starting to screen it now; we've just started doing long lead stuff. ... It airs May 26th, and it's gonna be interesting to see [laughs] how people react to what it is. I think people are gonna be surprised at how intimate it is, and that there's no attempt to make fun of them or to characterize, to make them seem like cartoons. Halfway through the movie, it's just a relationship, and that Michael [Douglas] and Matt [Damon] -- I can only describe it as a Thelma & Louisething: they just grabbed hands and jumped off the cliff. Like I said, it's so intimate and they're so not shy that I think that's the heart of the piece, and I'm really happy for both of them.

THR: Are you happy with it as a last project though?
Soderbergh: Yeah, I am. Honestly, I mean, if I can figure out a new way to come at what I do, then I'll come back and do it. But if I didn't -- if I failed at doing that and felt like, "I don't know how to do this in a way that's different than I've done before" -- and this was the last thing anybody ever saw, I would be thrilled because what it's about is totally connected to how I started. It's still, at the end of the day, two people in a room, and there's just a lot of rhinestone in it.

  • More wedding rumors are at the Daily Mail.

  • A Boston Globe article on the proposed Whitey Bulger project.

    Re: Video

Is matt still in Berlin? I saw a twitter posting that suggests otherwise but I think it's false.

    Re: Video

Lucy may be on Sunday's direct flight to Berlin (if she's coming). I also think the various world sightings are false.

I'm travelling for a few days so please post any news or photo links in the comments section. Thank you.

    Re: Traveling

    Safe journey!

I saw a tweet awhile ago that said,"Watching the Departed. If Matt Damon were a country his primary export would be charisma"

    Lol. Totally agreeing!

    Re: Berlin photos

Some blogs were saying matt tagged along for this dinner like it was just the 3 of them when clearly they were other people there.

There was a sighting Sunday of matt sitting in a lounge foyer. The post didn't explain where. Or maybe it wasn't even true. Made me think maybe waiting for Lucy or leaving Berlin?(I think he's still there though). Haven't seen anything else.

I saw George Clooney today, unluckily missed Matt Damon. I wish I could tweet a pic, but I took it from my office

    Re: Berlin photos

Yep I think he's still there. The water.org benefit this Friday mentioned something about skyping with matt so I don't think he'll make it for that.
Clooneyopenhouse has a article up that says due to the weather they had to move filming inside the studios. They were scheduled to shoot outside but that this wont delay filming. I just wonder if this will affect Matt's scenes in having to stay there longer.

    Re: Berlin photos

There's also a Facebook post about friends having dinner at the same restaurant in Berlin as Matt and George on Tuesday night. Update: it's at Soho House, so no photos.

Behind the Candelabra screening is also screening today.

    Re: Berlin photos

Oh well. We'll have to wait till the weekend to see them again. They seem to venture out at the weekend and stay in during the week.

Is filming not indoors at the moment so less chance of photo opportunities

    St. Lucia(na)

When I read that St. Lucia is the location they have chosen for their wedding bash I couldn't help but think that maybe the chose that particular location as a nod to Lucy's name.

    Berlin photos

WOW... "The Talented Mr. Ripley Reunion"..(>‿◠)✌

Cate Blanchet is such a beautiful woman. She looks like a model. Very talented actress, too. And I LOVE Philip Seymour Hoffman. Another great actor. Matt looks quite youthful in that photo.

I thought Lucy & the girls would be in Berlin by now, since she and Matt have "the two weeks rule",but I don't saw any pictures of them yet.

    Re: Berlin photos

They might be but we just don't know it since we really don't get sightings during the week. If they are not it might have something to do with wedding planning. (Maybe building some excitement before ;)) We should find out soon enough.

First of all, "les Frenchies fans de G Clooney" thanks the MDC readers for going to their website!:"A big thanks to the readers of Matt Damon News Column to send us their readers by direct link to our site when they find info on our blog, Respect!"
Then, Promised Land is announced in France with many interest.
-The "pitch" will obviously resonate in France where the shale gas debate raises for two years and where hydraulic fracturing was banned in 2011 because of the risk it poses to the environment.
Some 130 preview are planned throughout France from next week, according to the distributor.
Minister for Ecology Delphine Batho, "this is a film telling the behind the scenes of the development of shale gas in the United States and in particular the methods of oil companies."
"This is a committed film, undeniably," he told AFP the minister, currently in Canada.
The question is not decided whether the content of the discussions carried out during screenings will be paid to the national debate on energy transition. This debate was launched by the government to reduce the share of nuclear power, developing renewable energy and reduce our energy consumption.-
Promised Land will released on April 17th. Still one month to wait!! It's a good promotion for the movie and, as Matt said in Berlinale, if it didn't do well in the USA, I hope it will do better in the rest of the world!
And finally, Matt seems to attend Cannes's Festival, but I can't read the whole article!:
