    Lonergan project

    Re: Lonergan project

I know this is silly, but someone called into Watch What Happens Live last time from Manchester by the Sea. I thought it was a funny coincidence.

    Boston Globe:

Given the title, it would make sense that the movie would be shot on the North Shore, but it’s not clear if, in fact, it will be. Manchester-by-the-Sea Town Administrator Greg Federspiel told the Gloucester Daily Times that no one has applied for permits to film there. A rep at the Massachusetts Film Office told us they’re talking to the producers, but nothing is official yet.

    Re: Largo

Cool little article about the awesomeness that is Damon!! This guy is an autograph hound I think though.

Random question, does anyone recognize or know the brand of boots he wears? I thought they might be Dr. Martens but I don't think that's right.

I've looked quite a few times for that part of his tattoo, but I couldn't spot it. Do you know what it is?

    Re: Tattoo

He said to Vanity Fair that he has tattooed her wife's name on his arm while Lucy tattooed Matt's name (I think on her feet, so it seems in some photos).

    Another Bourne?

Is this April Fool's Day? Deadline reports there will be another Bourne film by Paul Greengrass with Matt that will go in the July 2016 slot planned for the next Renner Bourne film. Universal hasn't confirmed anything yet.

Variety is confirming the report with less details and says they are in 'early talks' for the film. This all seems to back up elmayimbe's report for Latino Review a few months ago that the Matt/Greengrass film was back on (denied within a day by Frank Marshall and Universal).

The Wrap claims Matt is desperate for a hit and would do anything to return to the series, including working with Renner (not believing this at all).

The Playlist says Matt had script and director approval and that it's all back on:

The Hollywood Reporter claims Paul Greengrass is writing the script (he hasn't written one before):

    Re: Another Bourne?

Do you believe it? Deadline and Variety are reliable source. But I really doubt this returning is acutally happening. I didn't follow Bourne 5 news. Did Lin decide to leave the project or something?

    Re: Another Bourne?

It looks like Lin will be the director for the True Detective 2 series and not moving ahead with the Renner Bourne film.

Nothing is confirmed, but it looks like this may have been in discussions for a while (and the earlier Latino Review report was probably too early to confirm). Matt wouldn't be attached yet as there isn't a script, but there's enough of an incentive with Greengrass directing and writing the script to keep him involved at this stage. Greengrass did write 'Spycatcher' years ago so he is a writer. For the moment, it looks promising but there will be a big push to progress quickly to meet the July 2016 deadline (which will probably slip). But get ready for lots of "Matt's career is in terrible shape" and that's the only reason why he is involved.

Matt getting involved doesn't backtrack on any of his earlier comments - he always says he likes the character but would only come back if they have a decent story and Greengrass is the director.

A fan's view at USA Today:

    Re: Another Bourne?

if Lin is truly leaving then everything makes sense now. I once read somewhere that Greengrass left Bourne franchise because Universal didn't agree with where he was shipping to. With Lin leaving and Universal's desperation to continue the Franchise, Greengrass and Matt may have the chance to come back to the table and resume their unfinished work. If so, I think high chance the returing news is not just another rumor.

    Re: Another Bourne?

According to Deadline, Lin and Renner will still make their movie, just after the Greengrass and Damon one. The fan's view at USA Today was a nice piece about what made Damon so good in role, but he was not accurate about Renner saying he played Bourne in LEGACY (not true, Renner played Aaron Cross a completely different person than Bourne).

    Re: Another Bourne?

I'm nervous. I would just hate for him to do it and it not be good.

    Re: Another Bourne?

Agreed. So much to possibly lose (public credit) through a flawed, unnecessary movie unless it can stand alone as a good movie and a jumping point for another series. And likely a fraught international shoot and years of stress (with a very high budget that will make its money back but not easily).

But you probably make it about a spy or agent in today's environment. It turns into a geopolitical modern thriller in technologically advanced times with an uncertain enemy (ISIL similarities). You modernise Bourne against the current enemy and make it not about amnesia but a smart, engaging character on the run. Paul Greengrass will be the perfect writer, but it could be heavily political and potentially divisive (and he will be no doubt making it on his terms).

    Re: Another Bourne?

me too. the wrap are saying matt was interested regardless of greengrass's involvement which makes me nervous. but there are lots of relatively recent world events to draw from for the story, and it would be as close to a guaranteed box office hit as there is.

i just hope he didn't blink about the box office stuff. he'll be a-list for life and everyone has relatively dry spells.
