One less project
  • Casey Affleck says Matt is no longer starring in Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester-by-the sea and that he will take on the role instead. At the Boston Globe:

Raised in Cambridge, Affleck said he’ enjoyed being back in Boston, and it won’t be long before he returns. Ben Affleck’s kid brother told us he’ll be starring in director Ken Lonergan’s next movie, “Manchester-by-the-Sea.” Wait, we said, Matt Damon was supposed to be the lead, wasn’t he? “Yeah, but Matt can’t do it,” Affleck said. “And, you know, if Matt’s not in it, it’ll be good.” The actor then cracked a sleepy smile and played a little piano.

First Showing and screenrant are also reporting that Matt has walked away from the Zhang Yimou picture because of Bourne conflicts. If true, it must mean that Bourne will shoot early next year

    Re: Ex-projects

I was going to note that we could thank Bourne for Matt dropping out of Lonergan's film. I think it was written at the time of the Bourne announcement that it would result in the Great Wall project not going ahead (good).

It's so typical of Matt's bad choices as of late that he would drop out of the Longergan movie, so he could do Bourne. I mean I get that he needs a hit and Bourne is his best shot, but the Longergan movie was his way of doing and actual good movie. I get why he did it because it would mean back to back to back films but Im sure something could have been worked out. The Martian will probably flop it really has nothing good going for it. It be compared to intersteller and there will be endless jokes about Matt and both films. Scott track record is very bad as of late. The script is good not great and it isnt the type of movie that is a guaranteed hit.

And The Martian could be great and the Lonergan film a bust. That's film-making.

    Sony email leaks

This article mentions a few recent Sony leaks, including George Clooney apologising for Monuments Men (pre-release I presume):

Thank you. I really wanted to see him in a Lonergan film again. I also want to see a good Bourne movie. Who knows which would be good or bad. I hope he's still working with Payne.

    Chris Hemsworth

Apparently in his January GQ article Chris Hemsworth takes the reporter to Matt's house, borrows Matt's mountain bikes and even cooks breakfast in Matt's kitchen!! Lol, lots of funny Twitter comments about Batman and Thor fighting over Matt Damon. Ha, ha. Guess I'll have to get this article!

    Re: Chris Hemsworth

The article is online but I can't link to it here. It starts off with the interviewer arriving at 'friend Matt's house' to then realise it's MD.

It's mentioned at the breakfast part of the story that Matt's losing weight for The Martian (and won't share the pancakes). Matt and Chris both come out of the interview very well (Matt's a very good host) and leave the interviewer to ask 'Who's more a mensch?' He can't work out an answer.

    Miami house

The Miami properties are sold - details of the buyers:

    Re: Miami house

It looks like Damon came out even with this sale from what he originally purchased it for, the extensive remodeling he did. Still, it's a great feeling to get something off your back and not have to continue to paying yearly taxes on a property until it sold like Damon was having to do here.

    Kristin Wiig

    Re: Kristin Wiig

If I'm remembering correctly virtually all of her character's scenes happened in meetings, so maybe they shot all of that on a soundstage in L.A.

What I wouldn't give to visit the Mars set of this movie!

    Great Wall

Matt seems to still be linked to the Great Wall movie, although there were previously claims he was out (I certainly hope this doesn't go ahead):
