“In the coming days there will be tributes, about our friend Jerry Weintraub,” Clooney said today. “We’ll laugh at his great stories, and applaud his accomplishments. And in the years to come the stories and accomplishments will get better with age, just as Jerry would have wanted it. But not today. Today our friend died. To his family and friends, Amal and I send our love. And to those who didn’t know him, we send our deepest sympathy. You would have loved him.”

    Matt and Jerry

What a wonderful collection of photos! Thank you. George's comments were perfect. Weintraub was a true showbiz legend.

    Re: Matt and Jerry

I had so many photos over the years, and Matt and Jerry were very close. I had forgotten that Matt traveled by helicopter to attend the premiere of Jerry's documentary, My Way.

The end of an era. I remember seeing Diner on cable when I was 12/13ish and was going through a bout of insomnia and it instantly became a favorite movie of mine. And, I became a lifetime fan of Ellen Barkin. Was sort of when I realized was into movies in a way the other girls I knew who were my age weren't. I remember watching Karate Kid for the first time in a continuation high school I went to for a semester. One of my best movie watching memories. We were a bunch of misplaced, underdog kids, seeing it for the first time. We fell for it completely. Totally on the edge of our seats, surprised at the revelation of wax on wax off, and at the end when Daniel san used that kick. The adult me would see it all coming from a mile away. I recently watched it with my 8 year old nephew and it was such a joy. He totally fell for it all too. He loved it.

And in this group here, I don't have to explain how much I love the movies he made with Matty. Writing this teary eyed. Glad I have a group to share the loss with. <3

    Awww...that's beautiful Cindi.

I remember Matt talking about that gorgeous scene near the end of Oceans Eleven when the gang walk out of the garage having successfully robbed the casino. You see in the sky just beyond them the huge fountains at Bellagio shooting water massively into the air. It's striking and effective, and Matt said Weintraub made it happen. Jerry was so powerful in Vegas that he stood with a walkie talkie and when Soderberg gave him the high sign he said "Now" and boom, up it went. So every time I see that scene I always think of him.

Matt did a commentary on Oceans Eleven with Tony Garcia and Pitt and it's good fun to hear if you ever get the chance. Matt and Brad both imitate Weintraub (Matt's is better of course) and it's very funny.

    Site note

    Hi all,

Just letting you know I'm traveling tomorrow and will be away from home base for about five weeks, so the site will be updated less, and I won't be able to post photos etc.

Off to London (for the Ashes - cricket series), Belgium, France, Birmingham, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, all via Bangkok!

If everyone can post news or photo links that would be great.

    Thanks very much, Felicity

    Great Wall

Pedro Pascal has posted a striking phot on his Instagram of the Gobi desert. May be travel or may be shooting. Sorry I can't upload the link to the photo, but here's his tweet.
