LA photos, The Martian

There is a cover story on The Martian in the new UK Total Film magazine.

A quote about The Martian from the LA Times:

"We've seen a rough cut of Ridley Scott's sci-fi survival story, and it's pretty great. Look for comparisons to 2013 TIFF outer space sensation "Gravity" as well as raves for Matt Damon's lead turn as a stranded astron

The Onion

This past week, satirical website The Onion posted an article on Matt losing $500 on bad headshots! Including a "candid" photo of him potentially in his kitchen.

Twinkies - Matt and Pedro

Lol. Too bad they didn't wear their matching hats. ;-)

1) Matt and Pedro have decided to attend summer school and this is the uniform.

2) Matt and Pedro went shopping together at 'Grey House, Grey Market'.

3) Matt and Pedro are secretly ninjas.

4) Matt and Pedro are twins separated at birth and share a hive mind.

5) Matt and Pedro are developing a mime act. Their white gloves are in their (identical) back pockets

6) Lucy told each one separately what he should wear and is laughing her head off at how silly they look (see above).

7) Matt and Pedro have part time jobs as support staff at a local community theater moving sets between acts.

8) Matt is sponsoring Pedro for membership in "The Sexy Men's Club" and this is the required audition attire.

9) They lost a bet.

10) They took turns reading selections of beat poetry to the bemused patrons of the Mexican restaurant, as part of a deeply felt but probably misguided attempt to start a poetry revolution centering on guacamole dip.

11) Matt and Pedro want to do a sequel to the international smash "Stuck On You". In this heart rending tale Matt's character is so devastated by the death of Kinnear's character (his brother) that he has himself sewn to the Red Viper and they make become a recurring two-headed character on Game of Thrones. Their name is Matro Pasmon.

12) Matt and Pedro are planning to leave acting to pursue their mutual dream of becoming professional baseball umpires and they are heading to tryouts.

I am perplexed as to which of the above is correct. as all the scenarios are so likely.

Your humble servant,

Annie at MattDamonFan.Net has posted scans of the full TOTAL FILM article here:

She's run a really nice website of Matt since 2004 and there are tons of AWESOME photo galleries there to immerse oneself into if you've not already visited.

The Varican

Matt's invited to have an audience with the Pope? I would discount this, but it is The Hollywood Reporter, and they wouldn't write it without a source.

Re: The Varican

Oh WOW! I totally believe this report. How special for Matt if he can attend!! See, even the Pope knows Matt is a good hearted soul. I do think the church is often demonized unnecessarily in movies.

Ares 3 video

In Lainey's column earlier today (the 5th)'she was very complimentary about the viral marketing campaign being launched for The Martian. Seeing as it's Lainey I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and her to say something catty but it never came.

Andy Weir

Another interview with Andy and he talks about Matt

Hi from Oslo (yesterday Denmark, today Norway)!

Any one else amused daily by the inevitable Ben stories? And this one's just the first. People keep trying to draw Matt in but there's nothing there...

Re: Andy Weir, Ben

I won't say 'Hope you're having fun" since I know you must be! Safe travels.

I love Andy Weir. His Facebook page is so fun. He's a real asset to the movie in terms of bringing along the book's fan base. Can't wait for his next novel.

I don't really know how to think about Ben. It seems crazy and sad. If the stories about his general conduct are true, it was probably inevitable that something like this happened eventually. Of course Matt will always publicly support Ben but a person can't help but wonder what he says in private.

The Martian, new format

Box office.com has release their long range forecast for The Martian. They are predicting $46 million U.S. opening weekend and $172 million total U.S. gross. It seems high to me considering that Ridley's last movie was a commercial and critical bomb and the movie has no bump from IMAX. Prometheus opened at around $51 and it was an Aliens prequel.

I see the new livejournal format gives me a blockhead. How appropriate. :-)

RE: The Martian, new format

'Interstellar' opening weekend: $47.5M, total domestic: $188M
'Gravity' opening weekend: $55.7M, total domestic: $274M

I'm so excited for this film :)
