    Sydney premiere

Matt looks very dapper as always! Can't wait to hear some reviews of the movie and find out what people think.
Matt and Alicia are also going to be on The Project live in the Sydney studios tomorrow night (Monday 4th July) on Channel 10 at 6:30pm.
Hope you get to see Matt while he's in Sydney Felicity!

    Re: Sydney premiere

Thanks for The Project update Karen. I'm not in Sydney, but I saw him in London years ago - that was enough!

The first short reviews from the premiere are very positive.

Clips from the Sunday Night interview are online and the two-part interview should be up in full shortly. Matt's lovely, but none of the questions or answers are original.

    Re: Interview

Excellent piece! I enjoyed it a lot. I've been missing form this blog for a while, work has kept me busssy, but I'm glad to be back :) Fingers crossed that BOURNE is the hit we've all anticipated it would be since 2008.

    Re: Sydney premiere

Matt said he would go on to promote the film without a family. Why ? Do I understand correctly?

We have heard this before from Ridley Scott, but Matt says The Martian was almost filmed in Sydney, and that he was looking at rental properties:

    Sit-down interviews today:

Sydney Confidential - includes talk of Alexander Payne's requirements for Downsizing (look nothing like Bourne). Matt will meet with Ridley during the Sydney visit and a number of the crew from Ridley's movie came to the premiere yesterday. And Matt calls him Rid!

Alicia says the new Bourne honors the previous movies:

David Campbell on the Today Show (Tuesday):

Matt on Chris Hemsworth, school flashbacks (the same photo Ben posted on Twitter today):

    Re: Interviews

New Bourne honors the previous movies? I wonder, is this good or bad?
It is strange that so few reviews after the premiere. I'm starting to worry a bit.

    More press

The Project interview was fantastic and already online in three parts (worth watching - fun and casual, with Alicia in one segment).

For those like me who couldn't view Sunrise interview, the whole thing has been uploaded on YouTube. Good fun, I can't imagine any American show making such a big deal about an interview with Matt, or letting the interview run so long.

    Re: Sunrise

Australian press really loves Matt, because he has been here four times before and every time they call him the nicest star ever and most grounded movie star. I don't watch any of these programs for other stars, so I don't know how others are treated.

Australian shows like that one are different because they are unscripted, and Matt won't know the questions beforehand (unlike Leno, Letterman etc). The Project is a very influential nightly news show.

Matt meets a retail worker named Jason Bourne for a fun interview:

Matt has got himself in a stupid made-up news drama involving a local football team. He was clearly made to state some comments on camera about a particular team by ex-footballers on a 'wacky' radio show. The comments are now being treated seriously ("even Matt has strong opinions on this controversial football issue") and it has already made the front page (it's a state v state football game) and enraged certain people. All over fake quotes for a prank.

I knew that his words about gun control will not remain without attention. People on the Internet call to boycott the film again.(

    Re: interview

To hell with people on the damn internet. People will always have an opinion on something. Every celebrity these days is under a microscope with everything they say so all this talk about boycotting the film is crap. They said the same thing about the martian and how did that film do? Enough said.
From: (Anonymous) Date: July 5th, 2016 08:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
A lot of people on social media are getting upset because Matt's comments on gun regulations is needed in the U.S. Some are posting on Instagram that he's a liberal hypocrite and that he's not as progressive and that he's only motivation is to make millions. I'm pretty tired of hearing about these "woke" social media pages slamming Matt and his politcal views. Their posts maybe enlightened but they don't do anything either. His movies, I think, don't feature guns as often as other movies. I will always support and back up Matt because I admire him very much and he has a right to an opinion, doesn't he? I guess freedom of speech isn't so free as it is seen.

From: (Anonymous) Date: July 5th, 2016 08:34 pm (UTC) (Link)
Matt's well considered opinions are inevitably attacked by all the worst people. That's one of the reasons he's so beloved. His track record for being on the right side of history speaks for itself.
