After reading comments on social networks I have understood that people in Oklahoma more sane and benevolent, than in Idaho.
I watch a movie rating on IMBD. (It gradually decreases, but it is normal). It is clear that else early to draw conclusions, because voted very few people . But it is interesting to me what kind of people put the units ? Can't be that in the movie everything was bad. I have met about three tens opinion, from people which have watched the movie, and all liked the movie. The most bad review was - "I put 4,2 of 5, would put more, if on not a shaky chamber". I suspect that units are put by people who don't love MD and who didn't watch the movie at all.

    Matt Baiamonte

An interview with Matt Baiamonte and his travels with Matt, including:

Try as he might, Baiamonte found that separating business from the personal life of clients is difficult. In Damon’s case, it was impossible. There was just something about this New York Jets fan (Baiamonte) and this New England Patriots fan (Damon) hitting it off in a way that can’t be scripted.

“The guy is a special, special human being,” Baiamonte says of Damon. “He’s very thoughtful. Me, I’ve got that quick, New York mentality. Let’s say somebody cuts you off in traffic. Right away, I’m cursing the guy out in my New York way — ‘You (bleep).’ And Matt’s like, ‘Oh, man, don’t be mad at the guy. Maybe he had a bad day at work yesterday or maybe his kid is sick.’ He’s just such a good person.”

Thanks, good article. But I don't remember interview of Men of Metropolis magazine.

Alicia was on Jimmy Fallon - clip below. Matt's now on Fallon next week (for the first time, and the announced visit on James Corden is now cancelled for unknown reasons).

For fun - pick all the errors in this Star magazine story alleging a romance between Matt and Alicia (the story was debunked by Gossip Cop). Star's done a few anti-Matt stories in recent months after being generally positive towards Matt over his career.

    RE: Alicia

Ugh, too bad. Fallon is so gratingly superficial. I think one of the reasons he invented those stupid games he makes his guests play is so he won't have to think of anything to say to them. Corden is the better interviewer.

Good interview at The Australian - excerpts:

In recent weeks Damon been travelling the world promoting the latest chapter in the franchise, charming reporters and fans from Sydney and Seoul to London and beyond. His reputation precedes him: he has become known as the nice guy of Hollywood, as his co-star, Alicia Vikander, was asked so often to confirm. It helps that his private life rarely gets the tabloid treatment: he married a “civilian”, a former bartender named Luciana Barroso; they have three daughters plus a daughter from her previous marriage. And in person he comes across as oddly unassuming, a chatty Boston Celtics fan chewing gum who just happens to be Hollywood royalty.

Speaking to Review the morning after the film’s premiere in Sydney, where he posed patiently for selfies with delirious fans, he says he always tries to “compartmentalise” the celebrity side of the job. At the premiere, he had given a short interview in front of the screen before walking to his seat at the back of the cinema, followed at every step by eyes and smartphones. It has been 18 years since Damon won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting with his friend Ben Affleck — does it ever seem any less weird?

“No, not at all,” he says. “They go in this bucket of just bizarre surreal experiences that don’t really have any bearing on my regular life. So that event was a Jason Bourne event. So when I walk up, everyone’s taking pictures of me, but I can go into a movie theatre with my kids and walk up the same aisle and see Zootopia and nobody’s going to take their camera out. It’s completely surreal. But … I’m not internalising it, thinking this is totally fine.”

Damon has Canada on the mind since he has been spending time there recently for the filming of Downsizing, a comedy with Kristen Wiig, currently starring in the Ghostbusters remake. Naturally enough, that puts him in different territory to Bourne, as does Suburbicon, a Coen brothers comedy in which he will be directed by George Clooney. Damon says the Bourne series has done so well for him through the years — no one is ruling out even more sequels — that he feels a great deal of freedom to take risks on new projects.

“I feel like it has for the last 15 years,” he says. “I haven’t had to do any of that calculus of how well this movie will do; I can just take a supporting part in this or that without any thought to anything other than doing the things that I want to do.”

    RE: Various

The LA Times story is the most compelling description I've yet heard about the point of view and goal of the movie and filmmakers. Awfully late in the game.

Matt's words about teachers which he has told in Oklahoma have caused a big positive response on social networks. Now though it is possible to read Facebook quietly.

Where does Matt fit in movie history?

This website asks the question of where Matt belongs among A listers in recent movie history. I know nothing about this website and their methodology (and some of their suppositions) seem highly questionable, but this is something I have also wondered about.

In terms of the combination of output, quality, and box office are there many actors who can compete with Matt?

My hunch is that he'd be behind Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise, but of course it all depends on what is factored in. Ponyo? Really? I'd like to take a whack at figuring this out for myself sometime.
