Enjoyed The Great Wall today here at Marion Event Cinemas in Adelaide, SA; thought the story to fight for something meaningful was good (I've always admired Water.org), also Matt scrubbing up for dinner was great (loveheart emoji eyeballs). Hamilton Island in Far North Queensland Australia is about to be hit by a Cat 4/5 cyclone, we were about to drive north again and made it as far as Hervey Bay when we decided it was best to go south and inland. We ended up going on a Murray River road trip across to South Australia to avoid severe weather. And here I am. :) M..

Good to hear from you M, and glad you enjoyed the film. Hoping for the best for Hamilton Island and north Queensland.

Hi Gregory, being a Gemini air head like Matt (a Libra), I like the extra thought that went into everything from the drums and technique in warfare, and the higher purpose including |[TRUST] in the story line (reason I also enjoyed Matt in Elysium). If the critics prefer fist fights/guns and human blood rather than The Great Wall's legendary green slaying action.. and people trust the ratings more than Matt Damon, personally I find the rating of 35% on Rotten Tomatoes unintelligent and boring (IMO). Paul Greengrass will direct the Eliot Ness movie which Matt was attached to when David Fincher was set to direct years ago. Brian Helgeland wrote the original script (Torso).

    RE: Torso

Helgeland also was one of the writers on Supremacy, wasn't he? Interesting development. Obviously we don't know about casting yet but I'd rather see Matt directed by Fincher.

    RE: Suburbicon

Deadline said Hacksaw Ridge was released on this date and described it as "awards-friendly" but it seems too early to bode awards to me.

    Re: Suburbicon

I've read 4 or 5 articles with forecast for the Oscar. Everywhere mention Matt and Downsizing.

Paula that's not too early for awards at all. Dunkirk is releasing in July and that's an awards favorite already. Look when mad max fury road was released and how well the academy rewarded it.

Suburbicon release is great as it's a month before downsizing and Matt will have had 2 films released in short space of time keeping him relevant when it comes to awards exposure.

Lol, you're right, I've totally forgotten about Downsizing! If we assume Matt is nominated for Downsizing (ok, big assumption) it could only help him actually win if Suburbicon 1) features Matt in a very different type of role than Downsizing, or, 2) is well received.

Lol, I know I'm being silly. Awards don't matter right? Except when Ben has one more than him, which is a karma violation.

    RE: Re: CinemaCon2017

Everyone seems to be reporting that the Suburbicon panel was full of jokes, (duh, Clooney & Matt) and that the Downsizing footage was very original and well received.

Glad to hear about a positive audience reaction for Downsizing. Laughs and applause? Excellent. It would be very difficult to set exactly the right tone for this film and it looks like Payne hit a very small bullseye.

Hope we'll get some video soon!

    RE: Re: CinemaCon2017

    From ThePlaylist.net:

"Let’s be clear, Alexander Payne’s “Downsizing” was literally jaw-dropping. In a visual style and dramatic tone that is the most Kubrick-esque of his career, Payne screened what is effectively the first 10 minutes of the film. To say its one of the more original pieces of work I’ve seen in years is an understatement."

There is also a more in-depth description of the footage on that website.

The new "Metropolis"? Ah, well, at least he won't be bashing this project.
