Matt Damon News Column
Good Shepherd, various
  • A detailed report (with photos) from the Good Shepherd set earlier this week by an extra, including his encounter with Matt, is at Jo Blo.

  • An interview with singer Anne Hampton Callaway, who appears in the film, is at the Post-Gazette.

Ann Hampton Callaway is famous for her live cabaret performances.

So why was she standing last week in a Brooklyn building repeatedly singing "Come Rain or Come Shine"? Her audience consisted of a film crew and a pair of famous actors dancing together for the upcoming movie, "The Good Shepherd."

"It was really fun to watch Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon dance to it 1,000 times," said Callaway, who plays a vocalist in a society band in the film, which recounts the 40-year career of one of the founding officers of the Central Intelligence Agency.

  • This ebay item is a prop and food from the Good Shepherd set which is improperly obtained (and should be removed from the auction site for a variety of reasons).

  • A Spanish interview from Venice.

  • The full text of Matt's comments on Access Hollywood about George Bush and White House journalists is here.

  • Matt's former assistant of three years, Trinette Faint, is now a photographer whose work (including photos of Matt and other celebrities) is displayed at her new website www.trinettefaint.com.

It's sad that any any loyal American isn't aware enough to know that Damon was just telling the truth--not just as he sees it--the truth, and every loyal American who would like to save this country from this evil regime and its blatant corruption should be screaming it at the top of their lungs. Kudos to Matt!!!

Apparently in your world there is only one opinion and no one is allowed to disagree.

You are really something else. No one could hardly dispute that Bush is an idiot who finally showed his true colors! I just find it odd how and when Matt Damon choses to speak up (as with your control of the feel of this board) . Its obvious most people coming here are supportive of Matt and his work but people are allowed to respond to what people of his status publicly speak up about also. It took courage now to say it but it could've taken courage then as well.

I find it very sad that because someone disagrees with Damon, and states so, they are attacked by someone who cites free speech. However unfortunate you may find it, there are quite a few in this country who do not believe President Bush is an idiot nor do they believe that he did not care about the victims of the hurricane. There is also no madate that celebrities are given some sort of greater privilege of free speech.

If you know anything about Matt, you'd know he wouldn't silence anyone, not even a Bush supporter.

What the hell are you talking about?

I love that (nearly) everyone is supportive and pleased with Matt's comments. If you are lucky enough to have a voice in the United States in a time when people are fearful to speak out AGAINST the government, you've got to use that voice. Well said Matt, and well said all of you. Personally, I agree completely.

Yeah, I'm even more supportive of celebrities who really care and actively make a difference. Like those who are hands-on right now with bigger more important global issues and disaasters realizing the crucial need beyond film festival or film whatevers. That takes true grit. True courage.

    Harry Connick all the way.

All I know is stars have an incredible way of life to also have responsibility showing the majority of less fortunate folk what really could be. People are quick to judge those like Angelina Jolie but I caution those look at those for what they are contained of or what their mission ares!! Modern day people have become so skewed up! Why is this happening? Celebrities are nothing when you view what really matters. People are what matters. Matt D. would second this I'm sure. At least I'd hope of some crusade of some sort.

PS- Angelina Jolie has a genuine heart-and the guts to portray it and fight for what it is about in that bigger sense. I commend her for doing so and all the humanitarian work she has done and has yet to do. Don't judge a book by its cover. Angelina Jolie IS REALLY WHAT SHE CLAIMS TO BE AT HEART. Where are the others who "claim" to be be of this work?? I'm more than sure Matt D. is not among them, though Brad P may possibly be.

He is such a cutey! There is no denying that. However I was referring to any stars who are willing to come out with who they really are and what they are really about like John Travolta or Julia Roberts. You know what means more to them beyond their fears of losing their celebrity status or whatever that means to them. Their work or gigs or lack of having it. They are even stronger for acting on behalf of themselves. I admire and love them for it. Harry was just one of a many few. Even if more of them don't care to recieve spotlight or press for it. But I guess if you are a Matt Damon fan you have to praise and worhship him for the spot light he receives for his work and all of his skilled moves in becoming such a great. He can only be proud I am sure.

    Jo Blo

Thanks for the article I love reading behind the scenes accounts of what goes on during filming and it sounds like MAtt is a great guy. On the other hand I have never been a fan of ANgelina Jolie I think she is a horrible actress, I guess I have to put up with her in order to get
MAtt. I can't believe she wouldn't let someone take her picture with rollers (what a diva) but then again she seems very concerned with protecting her image.

    from gawker stalker:

I saw Matt Damon running this morning (9/7 at 6:45am) along the west side highway. He must be trying to lose weight because he was wearing wind pants, a long sleeve shirt, a tee shirt and a wool ski hat. He still looked good though and was running pretty fast

I don't know if you noticed the picture here of Matt and Tammy Blanchard kissing the beach. His muscular arm indicates to me that he is far from needing to lose weight.
