It's a wrap for Scorsese flick
"The Departed" is... departing. After 90 days of shooting all over New York City, the Martin Scorsese picture is wrapping its last scenes this week in the East Village and Brooklyn. The film about Boston cops and the Irish mafia brought to town a Hollywood A-list — including Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Bal dwin, Martin Sheen and Ray Winstone — providing ample fan sightings. According to one source, "It was one of the most ego-free sets I've worked on." Inside buzz has it that Scorsese may finally land his long overdue Best Director Oscar. But the film will likely also up the star power of its screenwriter, William Monahan, the newcomer who wrote Ridley Scott's vastly underrated "Kingdom of Heaven" before taking on the Scorsese drama. Monahan's next screenplays are an adapatation of Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian" and the Marco Polo epic "The Venetian."
