Lance Armstrong movie update
  • An AP wire story quotes cyclist Lance Armstrong from an interview with a South African newspaper:

In an interview with The Sunday Times Armstrong, who survived a bout of testicular cancer, said that Matt Damon is favoured to play him in the movie.

"Matt's somebody I've known for a few years and is willing to play the part," said Armstrong.

"He can dig into it on the athletic side and the illness side, but he'll also look and ride and feel like a professional cyclist."

  • Photos from the set of The Good Shepherd are at Just Jared.

  • George Clooney won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in Syriana.

  • A reference in Defamer and Jeannette Walls receives a little serve. I’m so proud.

Citing the always-reliable foreign-language translations of an actor’s fansite, The Scoop circuitously notes that Matt Damon and the new wifey might be having a girl.

This is good news for George, but there were better performances in this movie, including Matt's. Oh, the politics of Hollywood.

    Re: Syriana

George didn't even thank the cast or crew, apart from the writer, in his speech (a very selfish and arrogant act). He's certainly been campaigning for months to get any kind of recognition.

If he plays Armstrong that would probably be the most grueling task for him yet on the physical level. Jason Bourne is fit and all, but Lance Armstrong legs are another story. I bet he could pull it off.

I saw 2 pics of Matt dining with Angie/Brad, has that been posted already? Sorry if it is, I'm trying to catch up. :)

Haven't posted them yet. They surfaced on an individual Brad fan site yesterday, but got wider exposure today. Will post them tonight (Oz time).

Loved Defamer's backhanded slap at Jeannette Walls -- hee!

And I'd LOVE to see Matt play Lance Armstrong, assuming the script was up to snuff. I thought I heard at one point that Frank Marshall, whose company produces the 'Bourne' pictures, was involved in the possible Armstrong biopic, which I'd think would make Matt even more likely to be cast in the part. Anyone know if it's true that Marshall's involved?

Hi Jeff. I think Frank Marshall bought the rights to the book, so I presume he's still involved. That's the only reason I thought Matt would be interested initially as it's basically it's a doomed to fail project unless everything works out perfectly, which is very unlikely.
