O13 to be filmed in Las Vegas?
  • Hopefully this project will never eventuate, but Norm at the Review Journal is reporting that Ocean's Thirteen may be filmed at the Wynn Las Vegas resort:

Sequel might be filmed at Wynn

Insiders say "Ocean's Thirteen" producers have been talking to Wynn Las Vegas about basing much of the film at the new resort.

A Wynn rep reached on Saturday said she was not aware that a deal has been finalized.

The Bellagio was the main site of the 2001 remake of "Ocean's Eleven," starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia and Don Cheadle, among others.

Catherine Zeta-Jones joined the cast for the 2004 "Ocean's Twelve," which was again directed by Steven Soderbergh and set and shot in Europe.

Clooney had hoped to film this sequel at his new Las Ramblas project with Rande Gerber, but the billion-dollar resort won't be completed in time.

  • There are some reports around, including at Cinematical, which mention that Matt is being considered for a film called Torso about the life of Elliott Ness after The Untouchables period. It smacks of an act of desperation by the director to mention Matt for a role which is not confirmed, and he appears to be seeking an early Internet response to the casting or cheap publicity. There is yet to be an occasion where Matt's name was floated (outside of the trades) for a movie and he ended up taking the role. Unlikely to happen here.

Ah, I know. :-) Not quite the thousands it sometimes reached per day on the old site, but it's still great.

... Are they seriously going to make a third Ocean's movie? Because I'll see it, but I won't be happy about it. They better fund it with their own money or something.

I agree Callie. I think it's just a waste of time for everyone involved when they could be involved in much better projects. All the guys can work together, if they like, just make it a more worthwhile film with different characters.

It appears very self-indulgent to make a sequel to a remake that nobody really liked, even if it did make money.

Hey you know what at least the people that do visit this site really do appreciate it and are willing to tell you. I would rather have 678 that care than a million who don't.

I agree, I'd probably see it, but wouldn't expect it to be all that good. Ocean's 12 didn't live up to my expectations. But I'll watch just about anything with Matt in it.

I appreciate everything you do for this site, but your biased comments in some of your posts are a little disconcerting. Regardless of whether you liked O12 or not (I didn't either), it's not really appropriate in a news forum like this to say as much in your post.

Again, I love what you do for us, collecting all this fantastic Matt information, but a more objective voice would be good and probably increase readership. People tend not to trust news sites filled with opinions.

It's just my opinion (and I don't proffer it that much). The official news is unbiased (and in black), and my comments/interpretation has always been in red. I honestly don't care about the numbers.

Why shouldn't the person who runs the site/blog etc print their own opinions from time to time? It's their own piece of the internet afterall. Opinion way, I say!
