I agree with what you wrote - I feel conflicted about posting the photos, and needed to justify my reasons to myself before I did post them.

And Matt's even said the same thing as Johnny - take a pic of me, but don't get involved with my family or I will take offence.

There's basically no interest (ie money) in posting a photo of a celeb by themself on the street, especially if they're not doing anything outrageous and wearing "normal" clothing. The interest (and money) will come with the celeb being captured with their wife/gf/partner (if they're not normally photographed), and especially so with any children. In this day of capturing celebs in normal guises ("they're just like us!"), an ordinary family pic takes on much greater interest.

Here, the photos of Matt and family are so rare that once there have been pics, they were widely distributed across the Internet within hours (both Us and People have the pic on their website at present).

It's the first time (I think) I've posted a pic of Alexia on the site, and I've previously written that I would keep her out of the press as much as possible. Here, the photos are so widely disseminated that even if I didn't post the photos or links, you could easily see them elsewhere. That's not much of a justification, and you can see how upset Matt and Lucy are in the photos when they see they have been "caught" by paparazzi.

They're trying to maintain a normal life away from the cameras, but there's an interest from the public in seeing them together as a whole family, thus the photos. However, the interest will fade if you see a couple of photos like this - the public's appetite will be satiated and there won't be the intense interest. They'll even be somewhat better off, I would guess, now we've seen a photo of Isabella's face.

Sorry for the long response, but I wanted to acknowledge that I do feel conflicted about posting the photos, although I know people want to see them. It's an ongoing issue, and there's no blanket statements I could issue now or later in relation to any photos. Basically, Matt escaped two weeks in LA without being photographed, and there may even have been an agreement with the photographer to allow the photos if they were not further followed.

If any other people want to comment in relation to this, please do.

Well, I can honestly say that there's a good 99% chance I wouldn't have seen the picture anywhere else, as your site is the one and only site that I go to for all things Matt. You're site is the best, hands down, and I thank you for using your judgment and posting the pic here.

>If any other people want to comment in relation to this, please do.

And I also thank you for posting the above invite. I wasn't going to respond to your post unless I was sure you didn't mind the topic being expanded on by other people.

Thanks for the explanation about posting the photos of Matt with his family. They were really enjoying themselves until they realised they paps had spotted them and were taking pictures, then they're body language changed completely they became stiff and unsmiling. I think it's like you said they probably let their daughters picture be taken to make the paps go away.

I've said it before and will say it again, if the public didn't buy this stuff there'd be no interest in it. I don't like it, and loathe this obsession with 'celebrity'. They're just people and most of them aren't even very nice people. They just happen to have a talent in one particular area or are better looking than the rest of us. In the UK we have a saying 'handsome is as handsome does'. Matt Damon defines that for me which is why I like him, he's the only famous person I can tolerate. If all the rest of them fell off a cliff tomorrow I wouldn't miss any of them. MP

And I totally agree with you as well MP. Haven't you posted on the MattDamonFansSite or Imdb.com before? Cause I have this feeling that I 'know' you from somewhere.

I've never posted on imdb.com or looked at any other Matt Damon sites. I wasn't even a fan until I saw the Bourne Identity on DVD I really loved it and I don't like most action films but everything about it was perfect. I Googled him to find out a bit more about him and this was the first site that came up. It's a really good site, I've looked at a few others to compare and this is by far and away the best one. Felicity does an excellent job and deservees all the praise she gets. I do hope she still has time to have a 'real life' as well.

I've seen him in interviews since, and he's always come across as hardworking, thoughtful, funny and intelligent, qualities sadly lacking in most movie stars working in Hollywood today. I've seen some of his other films and bought a couple, I think he's really a very good actor and a decent human being. He and Johnny Depp are the best in Hollywood at the moment in my opinion and the only ones I would pay money to see.

The people I admire are those working to make the world a better place for all to live in, but sadly none of them are famous, nor ever will be. MP

I'm glad to see they look happy & enjoying a family day out, thats great and Isabella does look gorgeous.

But i do see what you mean and agree with you & other posters - they were enjoying a family day out and the paps should of just left them to it. Taken pics of Matt is alright- hes the celeb (like hes said) - but the kids? different story, no need for it - how ever cute they are as a family.
Matt & Lucy's body lauguage does change, they look more uncomfortable and get upset when they notice the paps taken pics of them all.
''I think it's like you said they probably let their daughters picture be taken to make the paps go away'' <-- which is sad in a way for this to happen, but yeah probably the reason.
Like i said its good they all look happy, the pics are nice. But it would be better if they did not involve the kids really and take pics of them aswell - be much better.
Also thanks for your explanation on why you did put them on, i see why you did.
Thankyou for all your hard work & yeah like 'stephanie' said your site is the best hands down.

I somehow managed to post the same comment twice, don't know how I did it. I couldn't work how to delete one but I see you've done it for me. Thanks. MP

Thank you Feicity, I already thought about you being in this akward situation. I am glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks about this, this way. And I couldn't agree more with what you've said.
Guess it's all part of being a celeb, which is why I would never want to be a celeb.
But then again, they're just people, the only difference is that they have more money, and they're good at something and made it their job,it's just that their job just happens to be media-involved.
Well, I write poems, should I be followed as well? Just being sarcastic.
Thank you for letting us know your opinion about this, its truly appreciated!
Much love,
Pauline from Holland.

I agree with everything you've just said, Felicity, and I applaud you. You have always shown great integrity on this website; you respect Matt's & his family's privacy to the utmost and I'm deeply grateful for all the time you take to do this. It's much appreciated by this lowly Canuck and somehow I'm sure Matt would agree that if there has to be a fan site let it be non invasive and honest.
